Ridin' high on an angel's wings
And the devil sings inside my head (ohh-oh ohh-oh)
All alone on a Friday night
With an empty bottle by my side (ohh-oh ohh-oh)

And now I'm lookin' for the reasons why I'm alive
And now I've finally come to realize

I can't erase this feelin'
I can't escape
And now I'm lying on the floor
And I really need to find the answers
Lying on the floor
'Cause I've given every piece of me
And I'm breathing

Now the lights are flashing
And I'm crashing to the other side (ohh-oh ohh-oh)
Need another time around
Get me off the ground
Give me one more try (ohh-oh ohh-oh)

And now I'm lookin' for the reasons why I'm alive
And now I've finally come to realize

I can't erase this feelin'
I can't escape
And now I'm lying on the floor
And I really need to find the answers
Lying on the floor
'Cause I've given every piece of me
And I'm breathing

And they prayed for
Can he make it through?
I'm not leaving...
I'm not leaving you

Ridin' high on an angel's wings
And the devil sings inside my head (ohh-oh ohh-oh)
Waking up from a dream I'm in
And the nurse walks in
She looks and says (ohh-oh ohh-oh)
"Everything will work out right"

I can't erase this feelin'
I can't escape
And now I'm lying on the floor
And I really need to find the answers
Lying on the floor
'Cause I've given every piece of me
And I'm breathing

I can't erase this feelin'
I can't escape
And now I'm lying on the floor
And I really need to find the answers
Lying on the floor
'Cause I've given every piece of me
And I'm breathing

General CommentI really like this song, I'm wondering if he came close to an over dose. Because he sings about the flashing lights and the nurse. Is he happy he is still breathing or doesn't he want to be?

General Comment"It was just a few year's ago, during a near-fatal car crash, that Rod wound up in the emergency room. But that's nothing considering that his miraculous survival from that accident was just a few days after the day he died. "I died when I was 19. I heard the doctors say it; they pronounced me dead" says Rod still in amazement years later. "I was what is called a 'flat-line patient.' But the next day I woke up! The doctors and nurses were astonished. 4 hours later I walked out of the hospital and went to work!""
