Is this the kind of sound that you want to hear?
Is this the kind of vibe that you want to feel?
Cuz I'm the type of guy that you'll never fear
You can do your thing then come near
Maybe I'm caught up in the thing that you know I like
See we can make time baby overnight
Or we could make a grand escape
We can roll high on our break
I'm all about the look that you're giving me
I'm all about the dance moves you're letting free
Well I'm all about a sweet sounding loving spree
Listen for my melody
Maybe I'm caught up in the thing that you know I like
We can make time baby overnight
We could make a grand escape
And we can roll high by the way
When we come down
We'll be dreaming safe and sound
You better know why
Baby that's all I got

This is the kind of sound that I want to hear
This is the kind of vibe that I want to feel
And you're the type of girl baby on the real
Check it one time, what's the deal?
Maybe I'm caught up in the thing that you know I like
See we can make time baby overnight
Or we could make a grand escape
And we can roll high by the way

don't care much for the lyrics. on the other hand, i enjoy the rythyms/beats/laid-back feel.

maybe it's just that the lyrics are unintentionally shallow, but i feel like it's a song about escapism, you know just like living life at surface level and not ever going too deep, and the song is almost ironically justifying it, maybe i'm just reading too far into it though...

I alwasy thought this was referring an acid trip, and his girlfriend started out having a good time ..but now she just wants it to end. So he is trying to calm her and tell her its going to eventually wear-off. --Becuase they're is nothing else you can do, but wait it out. (if you dont know)

I think it's about being on ecstasy, because it keeps referring to rolling high, and being on ecstasy is commonly known as "rolling" because of the ups and downs in energy you get. And also, when you come down all you want to do is sleep after you've been awake forever. Like someone else said, maybe hes with a girl and she's not into it anymore and wants to come down, and he's just saying you just have to wait for now ("baby that's all i got").

    My Opinion

I think this song is about sharing sex with someone almost like a drug. When we come down we'll be dreaming safe and sound(sex addict). Baby that's all I got, he is running on empty he gave it all sexually. Is this the kinda sound you wanna hear, the vibe you wanna feel. Is he doing it right? I'm the type of guy you'll never fear, you can do your think then come near. Leads me to think she is with someone else perhaps. Sweet sounding loving spree... I could be wrong.

"Make time" may be a reference to a journey to or from acquiring a hallucinogenic drug for a high/trip that lasts " overnight ". There music is more descriptive to me in this particular song. Check out the many amazing remixes. Zion-I does an amazing version .

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
