"Loaded Gun" as written by and Christopher John Cheney....
With a loaded gun
With a loaded gun in our hands
We can end life
We can decide the fate of a man, yeah

Did you hear what happened
To that poor man at the station tonight?
He was shot in cold blood, waiting for the train
While heading home to his wife

And the police report said, we have no choice left
We did what we were forced to do
He was sweating it out with a backpack on
Who knows what he might've done
We did the only thing that we know how to do

With a loaded gun
With a loaded gun in our hands
We can end life
We can decide the fate of a man

He was his mother's one and only son
But to everybody else
He was public enemy number one

Well, he fit the profile, there'll be no trial
There is nothing left to say
So what if he's innocent, he's still one of them
And I won't lose any sleep tonight

And the news report said, the law protected
But the young man never had a clue
And the message to his mother read
Sorry but your son is dead
This is our job and we were ordered to take his life

With a loaded gun
With a loaded gun in our hands
We can end life
We can decide the fate of a man

He was his mother's one and only son
But to everybody else
He was public enemy number one

With a loaded gun
With a loaded gun in our hands
We can end life
We can decide the fate of a man

With a loaded gun
With a loaded gun in our hands
We can end life
We can decide the fate of a man

He was his mother's one and only son
But to everybody else
He was public enemy number one

General CommentI think this song is pretty straight forward in its meaning. About some possible criminal who was shot down by police without a fair trial. Its pretty well a protest song against gun violence i think. Saying how "With a loaded gun in our hands...we can decide the fate of a man" meaning that anyone who owns a gun has too much power
The most moving lyric to me would have to be "He was his mother's one and only son" and " the message to his mother read, sorry but your son is dead". Very sad really. Although maybe he deserved it? does anyone deserve it?

General CommentI don't think he is a criminal, i think he is of Muslamic religion and fits the perceived description of todays "terrorists". I think that the song is trying to reflect upon the views of our society and the way we wrongly suspect/treat those of other religious beliefs.

General CommentI think its to do with the killing of innocent charles menezes at a london tube station by police because he fit the profile of a terror suspect, and the police just shot him dead.

General Commentyeah actually that sounds about right. hence why i said 'possible' criminal..but yeah i agree about the racism behind the muslim thing....However I do stand by it also reflects gun violence, and how anyone with a gun is too powerful

General CommentI think its do with how much power authority have and how they can manipulate the public in oder to saving them self. Reference to the song, "He was public enemy number one", "And the police report said
    We had no choice left
We did what we were forced to do".

The authorities (police) have the power to take someones life, without the voice of anyone else.

    "Well he fit the profile
    There'll be no trial
There is nothing left to say
    So what if he's innocent"

The authorities did not care what had to be said, they just matched a person to the suspect and that was all that needed to be done, according to them, so i also feel the song is saying what has happened to peoples rights ? eg, the rights to have your say, the rights to a fair trial.

General CommentTerribly amazing song. Absolutely love the opening. This is one of my favorite songs on the album. The vocals are outstanding - both on Chris and Scott's part.

General CommentYes, it has something to do with some sort of mistaken and innocent man for a murderer, terrorist, etc. It's the sad truth of the world currently.

General CommentTo answer 'Nooshx's' question it is a reference to Charles Menezes murder by policeman after the London bombings, he was running to catch his train to work and he had a backpack on (which they assumed was a bomb)

General Comment"He was sweating it out / With a back pack on" would just be making him look guilty to the police I reckon.. I just love the 'he was his mothers one and only son, but to every body else he was public enemy number one' just makes you think all the 'bad' guys you see on the news and such are still someone else's family.
