"Joey" as written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richard Sambora....
What if I said yes
What if I'd gone out that night
What if you'd turned left
Everything would've turned out alright
What if I'd spoke up
What'd if I'd took the keys
What if I had tried a little harder instead of always trying to please

Joey I'm so sorry
Oh oh can you hear me
Joey I'm so sorry

What if I'd said no
What if we'd never fell in love
What if we'd gone slow
Or a little bit faster and broken up

Would I know this hurt
Would I feel this pain
Do you know that with all I have left in my very last breath I will call your name

Joey I'm so sorry
Oh oh can you hear me
Joey I'm so sorry

Were you sad
Were you scared
Did you whisper a prayer to be free
Was it quiet and cold
Was it light or too dark to see
And did you reach for me

Joey I'm so sorry
Oh oh can you hear me
Joey I'm so sorry

Oh oh can you hear me
Joey I'm so
Joey I'm so, sorry

Song MeaningThis could be the saddest song ever written. Of course I feel bad for the person who died, but I feel even worse for the person left behind - the one singing the song. She's blaming herself for something that was not her fault. Maybe he would have been alive if she had done SOMETHING different, but that doesn't make what happened her fault. She feels so passionately that this accident was her fault when it wasn't and that is what makes this song so sad for me.

My take aways from this song: Don't blame yourself for things that aren't your fault and tell people you love just how much you love them.

    General Commenti love this song
but i dont know if i'm sure what its about

i think it has to do with someone she loved
    that maybe died

idk when ever i picture it i think of a car crash
    and how maybe he (joey)died
so now this song is talking about how shes sorry about what happened and wants to know if he can hear her
she is also contemplating the what ifs
what if she had never met him
what if they had broken up faster
what if she never went out with him
maybe she wouldn't feel this way

    General Commentyou were close.
she actually wrote this about a boy, Joey, that she had fallen in love with in High School. He died in a car crash. He had been drunk. They had been pretty close and still in love when he died, she just wanted to know if she hdn't of had loved him if his passing away would still have hurt her so much. She still to this day thinks about him often.

General CommentThis song makes me cry.
Exact same situation my mom was in.
My mom was married to this guy before she got married to my dad named...JOEY!
and he died when i was about 11 years old in a drunk four wheeling accident.
    he ran off the bridge.
My mom heard this song for the first time and bawled.
    it was so sad.
and it's so ironic the song is about someone named joey.

General CommentThis song really means alot to me. I lost my boyfriend of 3 years to an accidential overdose. I heard this song recently and almost ran off the road. It means so much to know that there are other people out there that are going or have gone through what Im going through. When someone passes away over a sudden death you find yourself asking so many questions. The lyrics to this song say it all. "were you sad, were you scared, did you whisper a prayer to be free. was it quiet and cold, was it light or too dark to see and did you reach for me"

You would give anything just to talk to that person one more time.

General CommentThis song really hits home for us my husbands brother died in a car accident almost 8 years ago there was no alcohol involved just a very nice boy going to the store. His name was Joey and he was very near and dear to all of the family. To know that theres a song about him makes me smile but to hear the words makes me cry. So thanx to SugarLand for performing this song.

General CommentWhen I first heard this song driving I had to pull over because I began crying beyond controll. You see my brother Joey at the age of 22 made a bad decission to drink and drive one night which cost him his life. Fortunately by the grace of God no one else was injured or killed. Being the older sibling I am still filled with guilt. He lived with me at the time, why I ask myself didn't I go looking for him when he didn't return at a resonable hour. Lately I have been asking for a sign from him just to let me know in whatever sense of being he is still with me.I never got the chance to tell him how sorry I was that I couldn't of saved him that night. To me this song is his message to me and will forever hold a special meaning and place in my heart.Joey Im So Sorry Love Your Sis
