The red moon is rising behind you
The ocean is pounding away
I held up a light to the smoke
But the wind blows, blows it away

And the night is cold
And the clouds go by
Tomorrow morning
I hope to be home by your side

The riptide is pulling me under
I’m drifting, drifting away
Tomorrow the sun will be brighter
The water will rise and wash us away

The stars are cold
And the air is bright
And I see you now
And you shine like the steel on my knife
The darkness is wrapped all around me tonight

I miss you
I miss you
There’s no one else
I do
I do

My InterpretationI always had a feeling this song is about a relationship and the other has passed away. Now the guy is looking to end his life to be by her side again.

    General CommentSong is absolutely gorgeous.

I especially love the brass section. Masterfully executed, as always.

General CommentI interpret it as he is trying to get through a dark night. Dark in the sense that he is doing something of a dark nature. He is resorting to these things because he has lost her, or he still is with her but during his time away, he is resorting to some dark behavior that he regrets. He holds out hope for the next day, but it's still the night and it's dark and lonely... Great song - check out the Black Cab Session of it.
