"She never cried in front of me" as written by and Bobby Pinson Toby Keith....
It's 7:35
She's someone else's wife
And I can get on with my life
And that thrills me
She married him today
Her daddy gave the bride away
I heard a tear rolled down her face
And that kills me
'Cause now I, can see why
She's finally crying

How was I supposed to know
She was slowly letting go
If I was putting her through hell
Hell, I couldn't tell
She could've given me a sign
And opened up my eyes
How was I supposed to see
She never cried in front of me

Yeah maybe I might've changed
It's hard for me to say
But the story's still the same
And it's a sad one
And I'll always believe
If she ever did cry for me
They were tears that you can?t see
You know the bad ones
And now I, can see why
She's finally crying

How was I supposed to know
She was slowly letting go
If I was putting her through hell
Hell, I couldn't tell
She could've given me a sign
And opened up my eyes
How was I supposed to see
She never cried in front of me

Without a doubt, I know now
How it outta be
'Cause she's gone and it's wrong
And it bothers me
Tomorrow I'll still be asking myself

How was I supposed to know
She was slowly letting go
If I was putting her through hell
Hell, I couldn't tell
She could've given me a sign
And opened up my eyes
How was I supposed to see
She never cried in front of me

How was I supposed to see
She never cried in front of me
Well, I couldn't tell

General CommentMy interpretation of the song is as follows: Only when she marries someone else and understands happiness as it "should" be, does she finally break down and cry. I feel like the crying is symbolic of an outpouring of emotion, whether it's negative or positive (in this case both for he and his former lover respectively), and that emotion never fully blossomed when she was with him, therefore she never cried in front of him.

Only now does he realize the importance of the tears, or lack there of, and it kills him that he didn't understand earlier. And while he claims (in the first verse) that he's relieved, really he's regretful and wished that such and outpouring of emotion (crying) happened when they were together, because then he might have realized ("How was I supposed to see?") without her saying.

All in all: Damn, I'm a fool, but how was I supposed to know if she never did that stuff with me. (But moreso in disbelief and regret than actually "NOT" mentally comprehending.

    General Commentthis songs pretty obvious.

she got married and heard that she cried at the wedding and he realized that he never cried in front of him. she only cried over him when he wasnt around(bad tears), and not in front of him (good tears).
