"Long Gone" as written by Michael Claxton, Cornell Haynes, Jamal Jones, Ester Dean, Chris Brown and Algernod / Washington....
Baby
I used to watch your flowers grow
Now it's raining and all your petals turns to stone
I've been praying
I turn around and see my rose
But you faded
You left me now it's time to go

You're like a diamond and I'm like glass
Like oil and water we always clash
Sometimes my confessions are hard for me
I'll tell you now I'm setting you free

[Chorus]
That's why I'm long gone, long gone
You need to let me fly alone [Repeat: x3]
That's why I'm long gone, long gone
It may be to late our time is done

Baby
I think you've got your timing wrong
Hating
Exploring this while we're riding on
And it's crazy to think that I could be reborn
If you saved me
Now it's to late and you'll never know

You're like a diamond and I'm like glass
Like oil and water we always clash
Sometimes my confessions are hard for me
I'll tell you now I'm setting you free

[Chorus]

With broken wings (with broken wings)
I can't fly (I can't fly)
I'm gonna need you to save me, angel of mine
With broken wings (with broken wings)
I can't fly (I can't fly)
I'm gonna need you to save me, angel of mine

[Chorus]

You're like a diamond and I'm like glass
Like oil and water we always clash
Sometimes my confessions are hard for me
I'll tell you now I'm setting you free

General CommentLike I've said before... this site should be called "come and judge the bands place" not songmeaning, nobody cares about the lyrics of the song...oh well...anyway.. This song is obvious, it's about the end of a relationship... almost always a sad thing. I love the way he refers to her as his "rose", I'm a girl but the rose to me means "my love" haha. It's a sad song but also a "moving forward" song. It's very hard not to look back sometimes but when they give you no options then it's best to just let things be. I think that's what this song is about. And the "broken wings" part...Well, we all feel that way after it's over. And sometimes it feels like you can't fly again. But we all do someday.

General Commenthmm it's not bad. def got an interesting sound to it. I respect Chris Cornell exploring different genres of music. Regardless of what he does, he is one freakin talented individual.

General Commentrather an ambivalent song about breaking up ... but how do you fly away.. when your wing (free spirt) is already broken by someone you thought you needed .. ah.. she's the one that left you is how.. or is it? rather ironic imo
