"In Retrospect" as written by Lee Duck, Jerry Roush, Zack Ordway, Johno Erickson and Kenny Schick....
[Chorus]
Go ahead and knock me out
It hurts so good and you're all I've got

The last thing that you said to me
Was that you and I were meant to be

Hold my hand and check my pulse
Revive me with just one touch
You'll never want to end this

[Chorus]

No hospital's gonna save you from
A broken heart a broken heart
No arms could reach you and your regrets
Sweet dreams on your last night

I hold your hand and check your pulse
You're already a coat on the floor
Go ahead and knock me out
It hurts so good since, since your all that I've got

No hospital's gonna save you from
A broken heart a broken heart
No arms could reach you and your regrets
I need you in my life

So do this to yourself
You're the only thing I've got
And the only one I want
Is never gonna stop
She's killing herself to sleep
Sweet dreams and resting piece.

General Comment"Revive me with just one touch" instead of "wake by me..."
"It hurts so good SINCE, SINCE your all that I've got" instead of "it hurts so go says...."

General Commenti'm pretty sure "You're already a coat on the floor" is "You're already out cold on the floor"

General CommentHas anyone noticed that there are two people talking in a lot of the songs on this album?

In one verse it says " Hold my hand and check my pulse, revive me with just one touch" Who is this 'me' we are talking about? Is he speaking for himself, or is this the voice of the person that he will find on the floor?

Later on in the song, the lyric changes to " I hold your hand and check your pulse, you're already out cold on the floor." It seems as if the verse changed pronouns and is now reffering to him.

in retrospect is the song where she dies.

    "Shes killing herself to sleep"

    But,

The next song " the artificial" seems like he is pleading with the voice, albeit an artifical presence to come back to him. He speaks about how paths arent always pre determined and that does she realize what she is leaving behind....

But hey, its just my interpretation. There is probably much much more to it.
