It's time to go so put all your clothes on
I've got the keys, baby, you're so gone
It's time to go so put on all your clothes
We're running late and we both know

'Cause you've got your plans and you know that I've got mine
I'll fade away, we have so little time

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away
Forget it all for just one day
Tonights the night, oh baby we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah, so baby it's time to

Get on the dance floor
Pretend you know how
To make 'em all scream
Know what they're talking about
Just feel the music
Fuck what they're saying
This is the moment
That we've been waiting on

Cuz you've got your plans and you know that I've got mine
I'll fade away, we've got so little time

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away
Forget it all for just one day
Tonights the night, oh baby, we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah, so baby it's time to go

They said it's time to go
Half dressed, she's walking out the door
And I just thought that I would try to let you know
We'll be a mess around three or four
We all know that I'm fine to go

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away
Forget it all for just one day
Tonights the night, oh baby, we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah, so baby it's time to go

So tonight, tonight, let's fade away
Forget it all for just one day
Tonights the night, oh baby, we'll fade away
This is our time, oh yeah, so baby it's time to go

Oh it's time to go

This says: "So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away Get it all to just one day..."

i thought it was: "So tonight, tonight, let's fade away, let's fade away Forget it all for just one day..."

    am i wrong??

    I agree, very sexy song!

I also believe it is "forget it all for just one day" and " you're what they're talkin about"

I listen to this song several times a day. One of my faves on the album... actually has the most plays on my iTunes now. lol

this song has got to be about getting high. and the only reason i came up with that is because...

    1. john said that a lot of their songs aren't really what they appear to be.
    2. fade = faded: meaning, high or drunk(sometimes)

it's not hard to interpret. the chorus is a perfect example of what i'm trying to get across. you don't have to agree with me, it's just the way i see it. to me, it makes more sense when i look at the lyrics in that aspect. it's not about love, this is about being a teenager and his friends getting fucked up. and for some odd reason, this makes me love this song so much more. even if i'm wrong about the meaning, i'm interpreting it that way because it just makes better sense in my world.

No offense, ayesaych, but I think you're way off.

Personally, I think it's about tour. When Stay Up, Get Down came out, they were just getting started. They had to be majorly excited for tour and...well, this could have been the result. Maybe partially about saying goodbyes and stuff before leaving, but being really excited anyway. Just a guess.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
