"Girl" as written by John Lennon and Paul Mccartney....
Is there anybody going to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
She's the kind of girl
You want so much it makes you sorry
Still you don't regret a single day
Ah, girl, girl, girl

When I think of all the times
I tried so hard to leave her
She will turn to me and start to cry
And she promises the earth to me
And I believe her
After all this time I don't know why
Ah, girl, girl, girl

She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there
You feel a fool
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood
She's cool, ooh, ooh, ooh
Girl, girl, girl

Was she told when she was young
That pain would lead to pleasure?
Did she understand it when they said
That a man must break his back
To earn his day of leisure?
Will she still believe it when he's dead?
Ah, girl, girl, girl
Ah, girl, girl, girl

General CommentWoot! First comment, sweet. This is part of a song by the Beatles, but I think it's addicting. It's really short, only like a minute long, but it's soo beautiful to me. I can listen to it on repeat like six times... it always leaves me feeling like I understand it a little less. I dunno why.. but it sounds like he's lost or he's keeping a secret or something...

General CommentYeah this song is awesome. Jim Sturgess sounds really emotional when he sings it.

General CommentWell, the original version of the song performed by the Beatles is about a girl the singer loves, but the misgivings that come along with being with her... But in the case of Across the Universe, U would say that Jim Sturgess sings only that part in significance to the movie. In the movie he has to go through hell to get and keep the girl he wants... "The kind of girl you want so much she makes you sorry." It's loving someone deeply and sometimes it takes such a toll on you that it makes you sorry you love them. He's asking for someone who's willing "o listen to the story about the girl who came to stay"...remember in the last scene of the movie she comes back to him? She's there to (finally) stay and in the end all the shit he had to go through in order to be with her is worth it "still you don't regret a single day..."
