I've got no broken bones to show for all the risks that I take.
The soft tissue breaks and heals in ways you'll miss,
And I'm not hiding anything.
I do what I can with what I have to work with.
I’m the smallest part of the grandest schemes,
But I’m fueled by attention.
So go ahead and

Just ask my friends. I wouldn't do this if I didn't love it
But I love it
Whoa, no
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.

When I was young I managed to secure my role as the glue
That held my crew together, and I don't question motives.
My greatest fear is everyone I know can act their way out of
Telling me they'd rather be alone. Now I’m telling you kid;

Just ask my friends. I wouldn't do this if I didn't love it
But I love it
Whoa, no
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.

Someone told me once that I care what everyone thinks of me.
Well that’s news to me, but I guess they're right
Yeah, I guess they're right.
Someone told me once that I care what everyone thinks of me.
Well that’s news to me, but I guess they're right
Yeah, I guess they're right.
Cause it took some time, but I finally like who I am.
Let me be proud of myself for once

Just ask my friends. I wouldn't do this if I didn't love it
But I love it more than anything.
Just ask my friends. I wouldn't do this if I didn't love it
But I love it
Whoa, no
Whoa, no
Just ask my friends
Oh, just ask my friends.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.
I swear I’ve always been like this.

My InterpretationSo I could be way off with this, but I think this song has to do with Jared's (lead singer) career as a teacher. I think it would be so cool to have a teacher like him in school, but I can see how his students would react after finding out their teacher is in a kickass band.

"Just ask my friends. I wouldn't do this if I didn't love it/ But I love it"

By this, I think Jared could be Jared's response to his students asking him why he's a teacher if he's in a successful band. He's explaining that he teaches because he actually does love it and that "[he's] always been like this"

The other line that hints toward this explanation is "I'm telling you kid..."

Overall, great song and great band
