Baby doll
Do you believe they'll catch you when you fall?
And when morning comes
The sun is gonna shine

Don't forget your minor key's
Your half lit cigarette
'Cause when morning comes
God knows that you'll be mine

So let me in
I'm ready to beg and to sing for my sins
Not leave it to chance and sweet coincidence
Well, that's just crazy and you know it's true

Well, they said you was long gone
I just laughed and said alright bring her home tonight
And I heard you was graciously put on
I just laughed and said good night, guess it's alright

Baby doll
The men who hang like flowers in you're hall
Are asking when
Your love is gonna show

And who knows why
The love you need will always pass you by
Well, I heard it's true
Your love is gonna grow

So let me know
'Cause I can stay or honey I can go
Just to wherever you tell me so
And find my place there and there I'll stay

Well, they said you was burned out
I just laughed and said come on, she's not burned she's just gone
And it took me too long till I found out
Faces that you know the best oh well, I guess

And they laughed when you said you was leaving
Everybody knows you well except for me, can't you tell?
And you watched from the wings of the late show
Roses by your feet are red for me you said

Baby doll, baby doll, baby doll, baby doll
Baby doll, baby doll, baby doll, baby doll

On the track by track for Here We Stand Jon says that babydoll is the only song on the album where the lyrics are nonsense

great song....my guess is that its about a hooker who he is in love with, or at the least a girl that strings along alot of guys.

I think he's in love with this girl, and will do anything to prove his love for her ("I'm ready to beg and to sing for my sins.") But he seems like he doesn't really take it seriously, with him kind of brushing off friends telling him she's gone... almost like a joke, like yeah, yeah, "bring her home tonight." He is just waiting to find out whether she wants him, too, or if she'll choose someone else.

In the last stanza, he thinks she's left him, but it turns out his friends know her better than he does, and she's really just "burned" from a fight. ("They said you was burned out, I just laughed and said 'come one, she's not burned, she's just gone...' They laughed when you said you was leaving, everybody knows you well, except for me, can't you tell?").

I love this song, it's so beautiful, one of my favorites. It almost makes me want to cry.

This is a beautiful song. I think it's about a girl who many people are obsessed with, (the men will hang like flowers in your hall, all asking when your love is going to show), and he wants her too, but he's able to deal with it and he's not as obsessed. But that's my own twist on it.

I'm pretty sure the lyrics go as such:

Babydoll, do you believe they'll catch you when you fall And when morning comes the sun is gonna shine? Don't forget your minor keys your half-lit cigarette Cause when morning comes, god knows that you'll be mine. So let me in.
I'm ready to beg and to sing for my sins, Not leave it to chance or sweet coincidence Cause that's just crazy and you know its true

And I heard its true your love is gonna grow So let me know Cause I can stay or honey I can go Just to where ever you tell me so I'll find my place there, and there I'll stay

The part I love the most and I feel most of us guys could relate with...

"and they laughed when you said you was leaving, everybody knows you well 'cept for me cant you tell?"

"They" knew it wasn't gonna work, and on the outside of the drama, its kinda funny...dude tries for the impossible, gets knocked down, and gets the "I told ya so" treatment, where on the otherside of the fence the dude is blinded by hope and believes he has a chance. Hopeless romantic shit. I know there are a lot more guys out there that are and don't want to admit it, but you know this brought back memories too :P

I think it's about the girl that everybody wants, and so does he, but not as much as everybody else. He's trying to explain to her that everybody knows her better than him but that doesn't matter. That's just what I think, doesn't mean it's right.

I think -but thats only my opinion and it could be, that this is totally wrong- that there is a girl that many guys like or try to get, and he's convinced that he's the only one who really loves her and that the others are all going to let her fall after they had her. She'll spend the nights with them, but in the end, she'll realize he's the one and goes to him ( Baby doll, do you believe they'll catch you when you fall And when morning comes the sun is gonna shine Don't forget your minor keys your half-lit cigarette) So he doesn't really care about where she slept, because in a stupid way he trusts her. And he knows she doesn't really love him, but thats only because of the fact that she doesn't know he's the best for her (The love you need'll always pass you by) and he'll wait till she wants him, but in this time she cann tell him to go or to stay, he'll do whatever she wants from him, but he won't stop liking her. And when she says that she's leaving, everyone's lauhing because she tells that without ever really being anywhere where she can leave, he never really had her. And he realizes that he was a fool and everyone around him have always knew that it's nothing serious, it's just some hook up or something..

I apologize for mistakes or bad grammar, I'm from germany :)

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
