"I Lost You" as written by and Vincent M. Frederick....
Drive on
Drive on
The highway's bright and long
The river's overflowing
The houses burning down

Drive on
Drive on
The engine hums along
We kiss goodbye and drank up
Some mouths before our tongues
We kiss goodbye and drank up
I'll miss you when you're gone

So throw me a line
So throw me a line

The windows are shaking and so are my bones
The world's going round
Throw me a rope

The trumpet and trombone
Still echoing in the hall
And bells ringing along the dam

So hang onto me
Hang onto me
The world's going round
And time's cutting out
The headlights are stinging all over the road
Throw me a rope
Throw me a rope

I knew you when I was young

I wish you were still along
I waited a long time
All for you
I waited a long time
I lost you

I was sleeping in the backseat
When I got home

I lost you

General Commenthis voice reminds me of bob dylan. this is such a sad song. i guess its about growing old and remembering the lost loves. reminiscing. "The loveliest girl in town, I wish you were still around" .. fav part:

    "Still echoing in the hall
And bells ringing out at dawn
    So hang on to me
    Hang on to me"

its like echoing in ur heart and memory and hanging on to the past. sad and lovely.

General CommentI waited a long time
    I bore you

    has to be:

    I waited a long time
    All for you

that being said, this is the best song on the new album. so grand.

My Interpretationhe acts like everything is alright, he doesn't mind them just being friends. but in reality, he doesn't want to give up. they are each other's anchors in this crazy world. and at the end of it, he just pours his heart out to her...and it's beautiful

General CommentUnrequieted love? "Throw me a line" makes me think he's desperate for any sign that she feels similarly or is begging her to be with him. "A trumpet and a trombone, Still echoing in the hall, And bells ringing out at dawn" memories of her that he can't get rid of? Maybe.
