When we see your blue planet we feel tingly inside.
Spaceship cold from the vacuum of space traveling.
Kittens, hash, by the dozen, we feel tingly inside.
Burn and burn the reactor churns.

Our hands in our heads,
Space in the spaceship,
odd the planet. whoa oh.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.

When we get where we're going we feel tingly inside
Eyes that glow like a burning dwarf,

Our hands in our heads,
Space in the spaceship,
odd the planet. whoa oh.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.
A child's face is lost in outer space,
his eyes are red, in our heads.
We move along, we are pretty strong,
we breathe the air, we care.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.
A child's face is lost in outer space,
his eyes are red, in our heads.
We move along, we are pretty strong,
we breathe the air, we care.

We care.

We care.

We care.

We care.

I think it's more like this:

When we see your blue planet we feel tingly inside.
Spaceship cold from the vacuum of space traveling.
Kittens hatch by the dozen, we feel tingly inside.
Burn and burn the reactor churns.

In our hands, in our heads,
    the spaceship, the spaceship,
    the arctic planet, oh whoa.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, but we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.

When we get where we're going we feel tingly inside
Eyes that glow like a burning dwarf,

In our hands, in our heads,
    the spaceship, the spaceship,
    the arctic planet, oh whoa.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, but we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.
A child's face is lost in outer space,
his eyes are red, in our heads.
We move along, we are pretty strong,
we breathe the air, but we care.

We are alone, the world is not our home,
we breathe the air, but we care,
We feel the pain, we cannot explain,
there are no words to be heard.
A child's face is lost in outer space,
his eyes are red, in our heads.
We move along, we are pretty strong,
we breathe the air, but we care.

    But we care.

    But we care.

    But we care.

    But we care.

    We care, care, care...
    we care, don't care...
    you care, we care...
    we care, care, care...
    you care, we care, you

    My Interpretationfirst drug experience.
or witnessing someone else's. maybe even smoking someone out.

"A child's face is lost in outer space, his eyes are red, in our heads"

i really like this song. i wish 'climbing to new lows' and the 'we (don't) care ep' were more accessible...

General CommentI didn't really like this song the first time I heard it, but now I love it! Reminds me a bit of David Bowie.

Memorythe first time I heard this song, I was coming down from 3 hits of acid. I was laying perfectly still for about an hour while my friend drew a portrait of me. we were listening to music, and this song came on. I am a very big MGMT fan, but I had never heard this song. I seriously just burst into tears and started dying of laughter when I heard the way they sing it in the verses. I don't think I could breathe, tears were streaming down my face. ever since then, i've been in love with this song. =)

General CommentFun fact: when they recorded the verses this song, they ate cookies while singing, in order to get that smacky sound. Not kidding.

General CommentThey are describing how they feel about our world as if they were aliens. The main point they are getting across is that they care about Earth, but it doesn't matter because nobody else does.

"When we get where we're going we feel tingly inside
Eyes that glow like a burning dwarf" - I'm not gonna lie, this line does sound like they are referring to drugs. but who knows...maybe the aliens have glowing eyes and feel tingly when they go to the "arctic" planet.

Lyrics like this can be interpreted hot and cold, black and white, etc.
