You're bankrupt in your
Bankrupt in your heart
Don't even look at me
My words could shatter glass
And as a toy soldier from my past
Have no use for you
I took you off my shelf

Don't you know I'm here for someone else
Don't be so charming
Don't be so charming

Severely lonely,
But that doesn't bother me
I got a boy on the corner
Who'd love to be kissing me, hugging me, holding me tight
I won't feel the need to call you at night

No, no, no, no, no I take it back
All I've ever said
All the things I never really meant
Take me back
I want my toy soldier
It's okay if we play pretend
I promise to forget
You're plastic and on my shelf
Let's fake romance
And I'll be someone else

Don't even touch me
My hands are cold as ice
And as a toy soldier in my life
Have nothing left to give
And all this fighting hurts
The more I yell at you
The less you seem to learn

No, no, no, no, no I take it back
All I've ever said
All the things I never really meant
Take me back I want my toy soldier
It's okay if we play pretend
I promise to forget you're plastic
And on my shelf
Let's fake romance and I'll be someone else

You're bankrupt in your, bankrupt in your heart
You're bankrupt in your, bankrupt in your heart
But I still feel the need
To see you through the night

Pretty self-explanatory, but amazing. She knows he doesn't really care, but even though she tries to move on and find someone who will honestly love her, in the end she'd rather be with him even if it means living a lie.

This songs fits me perfectly, as I just broke up with my longtime boyfriend because I started feeling something for someone else. Now that we broke up, I want to be with the other guy and I want it to work between us, but I just can't seem to give up the feelings for my ex. He never seemed emotionally available to me, but I still feel there's something left between us that I cannot ignore and I can't say I don't wish to be with him one last time.

i believe it's "severely lonely," instead of "it's really lonely."

also, her voice is fantastic when she sings "you're bankrupt in your heart." gorgeous song.

This song relates to me. I fell hard for this one guy but we never dated. He could never love me though because I'm too innocent for him and all he wants is sex. I found someone else and he loves me more then anyone could, and though I have feelings for him the other guy never seems to leave my mind. I broke up with the guy that loves me to try and figure out my feelings, what I want to do. It wasn't until I started playing around and acted differently, less innocent, that he took interest in me. And though the attention from him is nice, I can never took at him the same way again, he's a toy and any romance between us would be fake.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
