Six o'clock
There's a knock
On my bedroom window
Someone else trying
To get me out of bed
I can't seem to hide
what I used to
Can't get you out of my head
I'm awake
But it takes some time
To open up my eyes
Little pieces of you
Lie around my apartment
Little bits of the love
We used to have
I keep playing games with my head
I keep thinking over what you said
You don't feel the way
You used to feel
When I touch you anymore
And I followed you down
I need your eyes
To look upon me
And followed you down
I need you back
So I walked through
The day
On my knees
Till the evening
That's when I used to hear from you
You used to make the hour feel endless
Used to hold my heart within your hands
Used to give me all my better days
Now they're gone for good
When I touch you anymore
And I followed you down
I need your eyes
To look upon me
And followed you down
I need you back
I need you back
I need you back
Your black soul and eyes have burned me
I see my strength in your eyes
Hide my face
I need them to tell me I'll survive
Just a drop of your life
That's what everyone tells me
Just a scar that you
Soon forget about
Oh, but they've never touched your heart
They don't understand
Nothing I have left has any worth
Since you've left me

    Song Meaning

Andrew is my piano teacher, i've been studying with him for about 3 years now.

Some of these lyrics are wrong, by the way.

It seems to me that this song is about someone after a break up; how when someone else wakes him up in the morning he has to get used to it. He's reflecting on when he and his lover were "doing good" when their relationship was good, and now it's like they are different people. He feels like their relationship together was like a fire that is burning him more and more. Almost as if the girl was the fire.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
