"Lights Out" as written by and Tom/white White....
Lights out, shoot up the station
TV's dead where's there to run?
Watch everybody come undone (Lights out)
We'll make it easy we'll make it run
One life they see now, how'd they get one?

Still I'll wait another run

Don't worry
Don't got to worry man I got you tight
Don't worry
Don't have to worry till I hit the lights

Wiped out, no concentration
They got us baskin' in a stole
I watched your ass head lose it all (Wiped out)
They ain't gone see me that's what I want
A casualty but I have more fun

And I know what it's about

Don't worry
Don't got to worry man I got you tight
Don't worry
Don't have to worry till I hit the lights

I'm still here shaking my head
The way you care to come forth
I can't do what's down my head
There's no place to run

Don't worry
Don't got to worry man I got you tight
Don't worry
Don't have to worry till I hit the lights

Ah ah ah ah ah

Don't worry
Don't got to worry man I got you tight
Don't worry
Don't have to worry till I hit the lights

Don't worry
Don't got to worry man I got you tight
Don't worry
Don't have to worry till I hit the lights

Ah ah ah ah ah

General CommentHere are the corrected lyrics from the Santigold MySpace page. Any other way for us to submit corrections in a way that they'll get seen?

    Lights Out
    Shoot up the station
TV's dead, where's there to run?
    Watch everybody come undone
    Lights Out
Won't make it easy, wont make it fun
Wont let them see now, how they have won
    Still I'll go another round

    Chorus:
    Darlin'
Don't got to worry you're locked in tight
    Darlin'
Now don't you worry turn out the lights

(must be worth it 'cause the more I try the more it gets uneven,
I can shake it I keep thinking but it's with me for a reason)

    Wiped Out
    No concentration
They got us basking in a storm
I watch it as it loses form
    I doubt
    They even see me
    Guess what I want
    A casualty but
    I am up front
And I know what it's about

    Chorus

I'm still here shaking my head
The one you can't account for
I keep just one step ahead
    There's no place to run

    Chorus

General CommentThis song is also about the superior drinkability of new Bud Light Lime, along with images of surf and beach that the beer evokes.

General CommentNot sure of what it's about other then a black out? But to me it has such a 1985ish feel. Lovin' it!

General CommentThis is a commentary on the public's mindless obedience of the omnipresent media. Television takes away our ability to think for ourselves and replaces it with turmoil and fear. Without television, we gain freedom: "wiped out / no concentration / they got us basking in a storm / I watch as it loses form."

In a subversive fantasy, this song imagines the downfall of that media. The chaos that ensues is unpleasant. The media is not so easily taken down, but this grassroots insurgency will not be deterred. The singer is insignificant in their eyes ("I doubt they even see me") but her ideals are to be reckoned with ("I'm... the one you can't account for / I keep just one step ahead / There's no place to run.")

Meanwhile, she urges the listener to think critically for him/herself, to step away from the fear generated by the media, and to be willing to step away from it.

General CommentIt's like they've extracted the active metabolite of pop music and injected an MIA album with concentrated amounts. Really mellows out the high.

God I want to f*ck MIA... Ahem. Yeah best album of the year. Not sure this song really means anything. Ah the possibilities of a vaccuum.

General CommentTo me this is about her sort of taking on this persona in which she's snapped due to all the pressures and hypocrisy of day-to-day life, technology, the media, etc., and starts wreaking havoc and chaos (or at least imagining/fantasizing about herself doing so). At the same time, she's reassuring someone she loves, who possibly feels similarly lost in the modern world but doesn't hold the same rage towards it, that her "darling" is safe and has nothing to fear from her, and should just turn away and ignore what she's doing. So basically, someone who's snapped and has gone insane is professing their love for this person who's afraid of them while intertwined with their fantasis of rampage and destruction.
I don't know, I just kind of envision these random scenarios in my head whenever I hear a good song with ambiguous lyrics, probably not actually the case, but it's what I imagined. :)
