YOU BETTER RUN!
Well, ever since you've ever been with that girl
You haven't been yourself
Are you out of your mind?
She says she really cares for you
But you know that it's a lie You know you're gonna die
You know that in your last semester
It'll take you second years
She breaks your heart from time to time
You know that you're blind
Run! You better Run!
Because the girl on your dream is only half the fun
Time! Time has come
When you have to state your mind
Now you know that it's just wrong

Well, I don't know how to tell you son
She's only trying to hurt you
You gotta stay awake
The warm and tender misteress
With evanescent blue eyes
She's the devil in disguise
I know that seeing two of you
You'll realize some day
She fools around behind your back
You gotta get away!

(CHORUS)
Run! You better Run!
Because the girl on your dream is only half the fun
Time! Time has come
When you have to state your mind
Now you know that it's just wrong
You know that in your last semester
It'll take you second years
She breaks your heart from time to time
You know that you're blind!

Well, she knows that you don't have time to see her
Still You'll see that it was a lie
Your thought it was domains
The regular turning back to plan
Is all over now!
You're buried alive!
You know that in your last semster
You don't have any years
She holds your heart and makes you cry
She makes you slowly die

Run! You Better Run!
Because the girl on your dream is only half the fun
Time! Time has come
When you have state your mind
Now you know that it's just wrong
Run! You better Run!
Because the girl on your dream is only half the fun
Time! Time has come
When you have to state your mind
Now you know that it's just wrong
RUN!

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
