Darling, it’s alright
She said at the end of a fight
Don’t let the money and strain
Play us a fools again

For a while I tried
For a while I won
For a while I held your hand
In the setting sun

Honey, it’s ok
I said at the end of a day
We’ll find a place to go
Somewhere there’s no one we know

For a while I tried
For a while I won
For a while I held your hand
In the setting sun

For a while I tried
For a while I won
For a while I held your hand
In the setting sun

For a while I tried
For a while I won
For a while I held your hand
In the setting sun

For a while I tried
For a while I won
For a while I held your hand
In the setting sun

General CommentWhat this song is possibly talking how Jims constatnt touring ha s put a strain on his marriage with his wife, therefore while he's out making money touring and such, she's at home missing him. The chorus is basicaaly saying how he tries to juggle both his marriage and job. "For a while I tried, for a while I won,for a while I held your hand in the setting sun." shows how he can only do this juggling for so muc.

General CommentHe's trying to hold onto someone while their fears and insecurities, exacerbated by little things, are tearing them apart. For a while, he kept this person calm enough not to run away from her insecurities, but she finally bolted, and now they can't go back.
