It was familiar to me
The smoke too thick to breathe
The tile floors glistened
I slowly stirred my drink
And when you started to sing
You spoke with broken speech
That I could not understand
And then you grabbed me tightly

I won't let go, I won't let go
Even if you say so, oh, no
I've tried and tried with no results
I won't let go, I won't let go

He then played every song from 1993
The crowd applauded
As he curtsied bashfully
Your eyelashes tickled my neck
With every nervous blink
And it was perfect
Until the telephone started
Ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing off
Ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing off
Ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing off
Ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing, ringing off

General CommentI think this song is about a guy who is stuck in the memory of a past lover....
it seems as if he goes off into a trance where he remembers all these moments that had together and then the telephone brings him back to life.

i wont let go, even if you say so= she wants him to let go, but he still holds on to his memory?
maybe, i'm not so sure about it.

General CommentThis song is technically the first Postal Service song. Jimmy had Ben collaborate on it for a Dntel album, and that's how they started recording together.

General Commentwhen playing this live Ben said he had a dream about Chan from Cat Power. So literally, it's about the dream he had.
