woke up to that familiar feeling
staring at an unfamiliar ceiling
still got your jeans on but you're topless
headache and the stomach feels nauseous
grab your shirt off the bedroom floor
and try to recollect the night before
how'd you get from the bar to this mattress
and when you got here, then what happened?
and where's the who that lives here
in this house, wanna figure out how'd you get here
but the thought got cut by nature
find the bathroom, that gut got anger,
here it comes, can't avoid it
ain't the first time throwin up in a strange toilet
anyone else would leave
but you, you crawl back to the bed and fell back asleep

x2
now all we need is because
so come and party with us,
take care of you when you're passed out
right there with you in your glass house

woke up all alone with no friends
but you had to throw up again
choke up the tears and the spit
grab some tissue to wipe off your lips
and everything still spins
and then the chills begin
and then the 'god please kill me right now' hits
and you still don't know whose house this is
in between left over dry heaves,
you're trying to check out your time piece
and you should call your job
but first gotta turn this hangover off
you dream that it's just a dream
until the phone in your pocket starts to scream
shut it down, don't want to hear a sound
heavy is the head that wears that crown

x2
now all we need is because
so come and party with us,
take care of you when you're passed out
right there with you in your glass house

hangover ain't a strong enough word
it don't describe what just occurred
looking at a phone full of missed calls
probably all the people that you pissed off
everything seems so sour
so you force yourself into the shower
standing up brings out the stars
and the whole bathroom smells just like a dive bar
can't do it, better sit
and let the tub be the catcher's mitt
lay down, face down
thank god whoever lives here ain't around
now what you need is silence
and you don't want no one to see you like this
maybe you don't recognize it
but this is your home, this is where your life lives

x2
now all we need is because
so come and party with us,
take care of you when you're passed out
right there with you in your glass house

My Interpretationwhat i got from this was... basically a chick went out and got fucked up.. blacked out the ending of her night.. woke up sick as fuck in a house she didn't even recognize with just her pants on and no shirt.. meaning there may or may not have been sexual involvements the night before with someone from the bar or somewhere else? (that's all up to your imagination) she spent her morning being sick and trying to get herself together not wanting anyone to see her like that due to the embarassment from her actions last night.. probably because she didn't remember what had happened.. and at the end, it's kind of like a twist.. saying.. maybe you don't recognize it but, this is where your life lives. meaning.. it's her home, her fucked up lifestyle.... it kind of struck home with me.. it explains my lifestyle and situation perfectly. a friend showed this song to me saying, wow.. it reminds me of you. it's kind of sad. but.. i'm sure there are many other meanings to it as well. that's the great thing about music.. no matter what the artist may have been writing about it's written so flexibly so just about anyone can take it and relate to it with their own personal situations.

General Comment"All we need is because" is right and it makes sense. He is saying "all we need is a reason to get fucked up, and you can come and party with us."

General CommentThis is such a great song. One of the best from the new cd. But the chorus is wrong. Instead of "Now all we need is weed cus" it should read "Now all we need is because." I was confused at first cause it sounded like because and weed. But I got the my preorder in today and it had the lyrics in the book.

General Commentok firstly, i think it's b-cups, not "because" or "weed cus"
My reason for this is because if you listen carefully, you can hear him say the first half of the chorus "all we need is b-cups..." etc. in a somewhat feminine way (talking as the girl) and the second half "take care of you when you're passed out..." in a more grungy masculine tone (talking as the man)

General CommentDSp8s, do your research. When i saw them live thats how slug introduced the song, also i saw an interview w/ him talking about the metaphors on the album, that being one and "The Skinny" not being about a pimp, but about cigarettes. lol insulting interpretations (correct ones at that) is funny

General CommentI would agree with 'specialed31', the metaphor of a Glass House means: "Life in a glass house" is a criticism of the judgments made by members of society who are themselves living inside a fragile illusion. You can equate contemporary civilization, with its social, economic, and political milieu, to the archetype `glass house' in which we are not to throw stones.
