"Do What's Easy" as written by and Chris Phillip Bathgate....
Do what's easy
Steal every red cent out of the wishin' well
Smoke cigarettes ‘til your chest rattles like hell
Just do what's easy

Waste every evenin'
Don't ever read, and don't ever write
Never leave home, and get drunk every night
Just do what's easy

Hate completely
Let every wall feel the force of your fist
Forget your debts 'cause forgiveness exists
Just do what's easy

My InterpretationTo me this song is about knowing exactly what is good for you and what is bad for you. It is knowing what you need to do to be happy, but instead doing the exact opposite. You could do what makes you happy, but it's much easier to just "do what's easy". Chris was obviously in a state of depression and isolation when he wrote this song. Sometimes you can feel so upset and lonely that all you want to do is "do what's easy".
