"Fear" as written by Don Miller Robinson, Jenny Morris and Tam Morris....
Seems as though you're here again
even though this day won't end
always a step behind me then
creates a vision that blinds within
if you could only see

The thought that burns inside
gives you a feelin that you think will hurt me
a sight that burns the eyes
is you'll never catch me and i know it kills you
it kills you

Flip the switch and start again
get the feelin every now and then
that your eyes are watching me
creates a burning inside of me
i wish that you feel
all the shit that you put me through

The thought that burns inside
gives you a feelin that you think will hurt me
a sight that burns the eyes
is you'll never catch me and i know it kills you
it kills you

Of course I saw you stumble
always a step ahead
I could have sworn I saw you say
you're confused in what you see
confused in what I mean
I'll show you everything you thought you ever
taught to me

The thought that burns inside
gives you a feelin that you think will hurt me
a sight that burns the eyes
is you'll never catch me and i know it kills you
it kills you

Something about this says you'll walk away
you lasted all of now
it's coming down
it's coming down

Of course i saw you stumble
always a step ahead
I could have sworn I saw you say
You're confused in what you see
confused in what I mean

General CommentProbably one of my favorite sevendust songs. I love how the intro at the beginning is really the melody of the bridge and the bridge has some of the best singing lajon has ever done. I love it. Nice riffs too.

General CommentWow, Sevendust never ever fails to impress. I don't think I can name a bad song. This is definitely the standout track of the album, along with the more aggressive Inside and the softer songs Sorrow and The Past. As for this song, this would definitely have to rank in my top 5 Sevendust songs of all time, its slow build-up into a fantastic guitar riff is awesome. What really impresses me is the breakdown ("Of course I saw you stumble...") and the outro with the same lyrics. They make the song 10x better.

As for the meaning; I am quite lost. My best guess would be that someone is clearly in a personal mess, and I think the narrator is trying to help him/her. Could be a friend or a lover, its not exactly clear. But I would have to say that the two obviously know each other well and the friend/lover misled the narrator at some point causing problems and fear between the two ("I'll show you everything you thought you ever taught to me"). It could also be saying that the subject is not listening to the narrator and is confused and isolated within his or her own mind. So the narrator could also feel that sense of hate which was caused by the misleading incident (if any) but at the same time realising that these two have had history together and that forgiveness overrules the fear.

But hey, that's just my interpretation...
