Smother the feelin inside
Never washes away all the thoughts that you can't deny
Mental sufferin
Except for the past you have no one to blame
We're chippin away at what we should be
But its killin me

Smile when you look at
Showin me what you think I want to see
I dream when the time will be
Where you will show me your insanity
Til then I'll simply just wait

Close to me
You come close to me
Strangling me with your eyes
To help you release all the fear that you have inside
From all of the abuses
Part of my seed is
From my heart in your hands
Tearin away all that once was me
Always killin me
Tear away

Smile when you look at
Showin me what you think I want to see
I dream when the time will be
Where you will show me your insanity
Til then I'll simply just wait

I won't fall
When the ground breaks I won't see
When the light fades, I won't die
When I'm stripped of desire
I will stay with you

Smile when you look at
Showin me what you think I want to see
I dream when the time will be
Where you will show me your insanity
From all the abuses
Til then I'll simply just wait

"...to help you release from all the fear that you have inside, from all the abuses" I think this line shows that this song is about an abusive relationship, but from whose side in the song it is hard to tell.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
