Times before I walked through the valley
Below the sun
I've wandered endlessly and waited for
My time to come

I think I'm drowning
Can someone lend a hand?
Can someone save me?
'Cause I don't think I can

I've gone too far to turn around
It's hard to reach for you
When I'm lying face down
I can't relieve my soul
I'm lost in a moment
Lying face down

Returning home I find myself
Wishing I was already gone
But how long does it take to find me
Well I'm waiting for someone

I think I'm drowning
Can someone lend a hand?
Can someone save me?
'Cause I don't think I can

I've gone too far to turn around
It's hard to reach for you
When I'm lying face down
I can't relieve my soul
I'm lost in a moment
Lying face down

I've gone too far to turn around
It's hard to reach for you
When I'm lying face down
I can't relieve my soul
I'm lost in a moment
Lying, Lying

I've gone too far to turn around
I've gone too far to turn around
In a moment, lying face down

This song is beautiful. It really is. From the chords to the lyrics. Here's my interpretation, or how I feel when I'm listening to it.

I'd like to say it's a love song. He's fallin so deep in love with someone who he isn't sure cares the same way. He wants to express his love to her, but he's never felt this way and doesn't quite know how.

Times before I walked through, the valley below the sun. ((This is a peaceful image. It could mean the happiness and serenity that his life was before he met her. Or, the other girls he's dated, and how they didn't have as much of an impact on him as this did. I assume this because he says times before, meaning he's done this more than once.)) I've wondered endlessly, waiting for my time to come. ((It seems here that he's searching, but doesn't know where to start, so he just takes it step by step. His time to come might refer to finding love or some everlasting serenity.))

I think I'm drowning, Can someone lend a hand. Can someone save me, because I don't think I can. ((By saying that he is drowning, I think he means that the's drowning in this emotion that he feels for this girl. That's it's so overpowering, its suffocating, and being as it is so new and strong, he doesn't know what it is, or how to deal with it. Thus the someone save me, because I don't think I can.))

I've come to far to turn around, it's hard to reach for you when I'm lying face down. Can't relieve my soul I'm lost ,lost in a moment, lying, face down. (When he says he's come too far to turn around he means that he's experienced enough of this love to go back and that he knows that he cannot go on without this girl. He wants her, but he feels so vulnerable and confused that it's hard for him to reach out to her and tell her how he truley feels. Thus lying face down. When he says he's lost in a moment, that's the love. That moment when you realize that you can't live without someone, and he's just realized this.

Returning home I find myself wishing I was already gone But how long does it take to find me when I'm waiting for someone. ((This is up for personal interpretation. To me, when I picture myself in this situation, I'd either be wishing I was already out of love, or impatient and wishing that we were already together. He asks how long it takes to find someone who's waiting for someone. He's expressing his availability, and now he's waiting on her to see and acknowledge this, but to him, it's taking forever, leaving him here feeling hopeless and helpless and unsure of what to do, which goes right back into the lying face down.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
