You said the moon was ours, yeah
You said the moon was ours, to hell with the day
The sunlight is always gonna take love away
Brings up suspicions and alibis
But I can see blue, tear-blinded eyes
Lies, lies, lies, ooh lies

I got a storm where my heart should be
I got a storm where my heart should be
And nothing I do will make you love me

I'd leave this time, break all my ties
Be no more use for any disguise
Lies, lies, lies, ooh lies

I wanna die without pain
I wanna die, oh, without pain
All this deception I just can't maintain
The sun, moon, stars in the sky
It'd hurt me too bad if you said goodbye
Lies, lies, lies, ooh lies

My InterpretationMy immediate impression was that it was about a man in love with a woman, and the woman says she loves him, but that they must keep it a secret. However, he realizes that she does not really reciprocate his feelings and decides to leave.

In the first verse "You said the moon was ours" - it means she told him they could be together at night/in secret. "You said... to hell with the day, the sunlight is always gonna take love away. Raise up suspicions and alibis." I though this was her telling him that if they carried on together openly, people would not approve. But then he realizes it's all lies she's giving him.

Then when the lyrics say "I'll leave this time, break all my ties. Be no more use for any disguise" it refers to his resolve to leave, and then there would be no more use for all the sneaking around.

My InterpretationTo me, I think this song is about a guy who's in love with a girl that he's been sleeping with. The girl doesn't seem to return the love; because her only interest is to screw. The whole night moon and day thing to me, is that they sleep together at night and its magical to him, but when they wake up and there's the sun shining, she goes and the love is gone.

Sorry' if you hate my interpretation, but this is what I think when I listen to this song.

General CommentI hear a few words differently, but it changes the meaning of the song completely.

In the first verse, it is "But I can't see through tear-blinded eyes". It's his eye that are crying.

The second verse is "I got a stone where my heart should be". i.e. his heart is a dead peice of rock.

And the chorus, he's not talking about "lies, lies, lies" (not nouns) - he's telling 'her' to "lie, lie, lie" (verb)

Dude just had his heart broken. She doesn't love him anymore. She promissed him the moon, but is leaving ...
He wants her to stay and to lie to him if she has to - just stay...

General CommentI actually agree with you, it seems as though he is having a hidden relationship with someone who doesnt want anyone to know about it.
He feels like it's all lies and it hurts but it would hurt even more if that person would leave.
It is possible that his lover is another man and that this other guy wants to keep it a secret, but the singer doesn't want to keep wearing this disguise.

I might hear 'stone' in stead of storm, too, but it's kind of hard to tell >_< and he definitely sings 'lie' instead of 'lies' the first two or three times!

    This changes things.

General CommentThis song makes me think of someone being lied to, and then once they find out its like they hate them for lying to them but they loved who they thought that person was that they cant let them go.

The lies to start off are promising them something to cover up that theyre not actually loving them.
Like once they find out they have a relationship with a lover it "raise[s] up suspicions and alibis"
and when they find out, the person begs for forgiveness but, "I can see through tear blinded eyes"

and then once they loose that person, "I got a stone where my heart should be"
but they blame themselves for everything because of how much they loved that person, "and nothin I do will make you love me"

The pain of loving a liar makes them want to escape the life they built around them, "Ill leave this town, break all my ties, be no more use for any disguise"

then they want to die or escape, "I want to die without pain"
because they cant stand how much that person lied to them, "all this deception I just cant maintain"
and they cant stand how much they loved them, "It'd hurt me too bad if you said goodbye"

this is just my interpretation. I loved my best friend to death but she lied to me so much and once I found out she ditched me and dated my brother. This song is the only thing that got me through it, because it defined all the pain so well. I love this song with my whole heart.

General CommentYeah, it's most likely about a secret/hidden relationship type thing. Maybe it's just me, but I was listening to this the other day and the first verse especially made me think of a vampire/human relationship. Like I could really see them using this on a show like True Blood or something. I don't know I'm starting to think all the vampire themes in pop culture are seeping into my brain now. Kinda lame, I know, but hey, it's a thought.

My Interpretationwhen i heard this song, i found regret in his voice and when i listened properly .. i think
this guy is regretting his mistakes and about the girl whom he cheated when she dreamed about moon and stars. Now as the truth came out he understands that she won't forgive him for breaking her heart and making him cry.
He calls himself stone hearted and admits his flaws to lessen his pain.
He wants to lessen his burden by asking her to pardon him.
He wants to remove his mask and show his real self.
He wants her to forgive him because without her it feels like hell that it hurts him to say goodbye.

General CommentThe song is about how we pretend to be someone else so we can keep on a relationship we have.

First they were pretending and they fall in love. She promised him the moon. But the sunlight, will show the lies that they are saying. It brings up suspicions and alibies for the lies that both have said so they would be loveable to each other. Now the girl is crying, and he sees blue, tear-blinded eyes. He wants to die because he lost her. He has a stone where his heart should be, and nothing he do will make her love him anymore. He can't say anymore lies. So he will leave, break all the ties of the boundaries of lies, because there is no use in disguise anymore. He wants to die without pain, because now he feels pain and he doesn't like it at all. He can't mantain all this deception and these lies. But he confesses that he is sorry, and that he would hurt him so bad if she left him...
