Intro
Everyone says we've come such a long, long way
We're civilized, isn't that nice?
We've gotten so smart
We know how to blow the whole world apart
But when it comes to the simple things
(like living together) . . . ha!

Verse
Why'd we have to come all this way
Is anything any easier to understand
Why'd we have to come all this way
Are we any smarter than primitive men
We still fall in love though we know better
Anything at all just to stay together
Stop wasting all my time

Chorus
Why did we come all this way
Why did we come all this way
Why did we come all this way
Why did we come all this way

Verse
Why'd we have to come all this way
We could have quit while we were way ahead
Why'd we have to come all this way
We could have just stayed home instead
The road was long and the journey was hard
We never even dreamed that we'd come so far

Chorus

Bridge
It didn't have to end up like this
It didn't have to end up like this
It didn't have to end up like this
It didn't have to end up like this

    My Interpretation

I always thought that this song was about Westward expansion and Manifest Destiny. It's through the lense of a european colonizer descendant. It describes how europe came to the west with the idea that they were "smarter" and "civilized." The song is spoken in a sinister tone as these are described, with a question "isn't that nice?" as the colonizers believed that they were giving a gift to the indigenous people. "We should've just quit while we were way ahead," as manifest destiny was the belief that it was peoples god given right to expand west- despite not needing to. The song talks how "we can't live together", a reference to colonizers taking indigenous land and displacing them entirely rather than even trying for compromise.

And finally "Why'd we come all this way?" it's a good question. The european colonizers went to great lengths to expand westward- they went to another continent. The song begs the question "was it worth it?" Westward colonization caused so much damage to indigenous populations and the enviorment, but was it really for a 'greater good?' Despite those colonizers believing they were more 'civilized' than the indigenous americans, the human race is still constantly at odds.

I think this song could also be applied to other colonized areas, of course. Soon after, the north west began to do the same thing to central america, spouting same ideals. The same thing happened in africa, south asia, and a plethora of other locations. I just think in regards to "coming a long way," and the language of being "civilized"- which is commonly used in this situation- it fits most with the specific era of manifest destiny.

This is just how I see it, good song, good message. It's important to talk and think about the effects of something like this, considering how greatly it has impacted human geography. 10/10 love u oingo boingo

    My Interpretation

I'm pretty sure it's about how us humans think we have evolved; we're "advanced" and "civilized". Yet the biggest thing we've accomplished as a race, is the ability to destroy our own planet. Danny thinks that we should've just stayed as primitive men while we had the chance, instead of going on this long, destructive journey to "evolving".

This song really needs to be seen in context of its times. Reagan was building up nuclear weapons to stop the Soviets, but this was kept secret at the time. Many people in the time thought that we're going to wake up one morning and find that a nuclear war had occurred. He's asking why did we evolve so much just to destroy ourselves in a nuclear war.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
