I was just a shoulder you could cry on
You ruined my favorite shirts
I write my favorite songs about you
They'll never make the record

When you highs are low
and your ups are down
I'll be nowhere to be found
Tell me babe who's laughing now?

When your yes and no
And your fire is cold
You're nothing but skin and bones
Formerly so beautiful

Out with the old
In with the new
I can do better than you

If your love don't stick
Then please don't stick by me
And if your heart's untrue
Then please don't lie with me

And if your love don't count
Then you can count on me
For nothing, for nothing

I'm sitting by my phone
2.00 AM you should be home
I'm cutting patterns in the floor

I'm in it for the win,
But I'm losing all my friends
Chasing you is like chasing the wind

When your hugs are shrugs
And your kisses are curses
I'll be nowhere to be found
Tell me babe who's laughing now?

When your calm is crazy
And your clarity's hazy
You're nothing but skin and bones
Formerly so beautiful

Out with the old
In with the new
I can do better than you

If your love don't stick
Then please don't stick by me
And if your heart's untrue
Then please don't lie with me

And if your love don't count
Then you can count on me
For nothing, for nothing

Alright!

If your love don't stick
Then please don't stick by me
And if your heart's untrue
Then please don't lie with me

(Come on! Clap with me! Clap with me!
Clap those hands! Clap those hands! Alright!)

And if your love don't count
Then you can count on me
For nothing, for nothing

no one has commented?! awesome song and i think its just refering to having a good time and finding someone who you can rely on as a friend. or a loved one. btw the third line in the first verse/paragraph, it should be we're, not were.

@stewie840: That's because as I am writing this comment, only a few people have even heard this song.. It's on the Underdog Alma Mater album, which is to be released a week from now (as of time of writing).

Good song though, not the best in the album, but still good..

i think it's about his mom... and how she wasn't there for him growing up, and now she wants to be a part of his life.

but he's not sure if he wants her to be, even though he loves her.

    I agree with Nikki.

I mean it says mother like in this first line Mother, I know you know I'm having a good time I'm sleeping so little But I'm living the good life No need to worry Got a place to lay my head down No need to worry I got a place to sleep

It makes sense he loves his mother but she was never there for him.

so okay, i guess it is about his mom. & i see that now, but with the whole "we made the back our bedroom" and "i'm not sure that i really want to touch you but i will only if you ask me to" thing i saw it as being about a guy (or girl). like, he's someone who you have so much fun with and love the hell out of, but he's just not someone you can 100% count on.. and that's why it wouldn't work.

I think most of the song is about his mom. At first I thought it was about a girl, because of the 'made the back our bedroom part' but it makes sense if you think of it as living in a car, and not banging in a car.

And then I think this part:

I love you, but I'm not sure That I really want to touch you But I will only if you ask me to Yeah, you'll never be that for me Yeah, you'll never be that for me

He could now be talking about a girl, and referring to how he was used to how his mother was with him, and he's scared to get close to a girl because of that.

    But yeah. just guessing.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
