Callous! I awake in this dream state. everyday runs together. I am a hallow shell. Colors and lights run together. I don't feel. My only defense is sleep and the sleep-like. This is beyond mediocrity, this is reality. This is beyond apathy, this is giving up. What hurts most is discovering all I believed in and fastened myself too are illusions. As the world distracts and decays. The only portion of it I know distracts me and I begin to decay. Distract and decay. The smell is overwhelming. There is life off in the landscape. I can see it through the distortion and blur. My legs are now dead weight, I'll drag myself there if I have to.

General CommentThis song is about depression. Anyone who has experienced legitimate chemical, physiological depression will understand that right away.

    It's well articulated though.

The sleep and sleep like song reminds me of Wandering Star by Portishead.

General Commenti think the songs about life and experiencing everything within it. I think he's realized that the stuff we commonly think of as important; status, fame, wealth are all illusions that keep changing and growing and distracting us. We never have enough and we always want more and we go through life in a sleeplike state where we work our 9 to 5s and worry about who's famous and whats hot but stop caring about one another. I think he's saying our apathy and selfishness is killing us and the world. However, the last few lines seem to inspire hope. He mentions the life off in the distance. Perhaps the idea of "I came to this conclusion so others must have as well. Maybe its not too late to change."

General CommentFrom reading these lyrics, all i can gather from it is the sense of helplessness and giving up?

but then the closing line "I'll drag myself there if I have to" sort of creates a sense of hopefulness?

    lots of confusion too

General Commentthis song must have been written from the depths of depression. he's so empty and feels worthless but something is keeping him going. something is showing him "the light".
