"Would-Be Killer" as written by and Thomas Decarlo/burton Callaway....
I've got a secret
Something I thought maybe I could do
But I can't now, can I?
Lucky, lucky you

Did you know I could be,
Or would be, killer
If suddenly I should be
Or would be, killer

Hurt people, hurt people
This is always how
Oh I didn't turn to evil
So someone best love me right now

Because I could be,
Or would be, killer
If suddenly I should be,
I would be, killer

Now don't you dare me
Or we will dance
High up balancing ballet
So I may still get my chance

General Commenthmmm, why not just take the song at face value? I mean, cee-lo seems pretty strait forward in this song, no extended metaphores as he usually does, a tone of song wich maches his "over the top" vocals and lyrics. i think he's just singing about that murderous feeling we all get when we're faced with an infuriating situation or person but have no real power to do anything about it.

the only thing that throws me is the second to laast line, I could never understand what he was saying and "high up ballanceing ballet" makes no sence to me what so ever, unless it's referring to being on the edge, in which case different lyrics would have suficed.

General Comment1st off i really dont think he's sayin "high balancing ballet" ....i think he's sayin "im balancing barely". but i think the whole meaning of the song comes down to the line where he says "hurt people..hurt people", i dont think he's saying that you should hurt people, i'm pretty sure he's saying people that are hurt end up hurting others. it makes sense when he follows it up with 'ive been entered by evil so someone best love me right now'. he's sayin hurt people hurt people, and im feelin hurt so someone better unhurt me or im gonna hurt YOU! ya heard?

General CommentI think this is about killing oneself, not someone else. Coming off of "Just a Thought" and "Open Book" its a warning-- I'm on the edge and I need help.

General CommentI think that the lyric should not be "Hurt people, hurt people" but instead "Hurt people hurt people"; in other words, people who have been hurt in turn hurt other people. Just an idea.

General CommentThis song is about being gothy, or acting dark and sinister, to get attention and affection. Listen to his campy singing as he makes dark, over-the-tops hints in the beginning. When he says "hurt people hurt people," he's hinting at a wounded self behind his bitter exterior. And he gives it away with "Oh, I've been entered by evil, so someone best love me right now." He's saying that he's faking all this darkness so people will be intrigued. I think this is a great song about something I've literally heard another song about- a great offbeat track.

General Commenti think this is about a person who was hurt in a relationship and now the person is hurting other people too feel better. (hurt people, hurt people* that pause he makes, makes all the difference to the meaning) but i think he knows how stupid that is so he's saying (someone best love me right now).

My InterpretationI get a real aborticidal message from this song. It's two framed in a relationship where the woman has become accidently pregnant.

The first verse is a man who is thinking of - or secretly already is - carrying on a liaison. Maybe he even wants to completely remove himself from his commited relationship. However, the woman reveals she's pregnant and this makes him reluctant.

The second verse is a mediation by the woman, explaining her situation, and what she expects of him. She's been entered by evil, not because the fetus is evil, but because the power it wields indirectly through her is.

The third verse is the ultimatum. Both parties are on the fence, and the situation is so explosive that one false move could push the other over the edge.
It can be viewed as the man calling her threats and pregnancy a falicy or bluff. She tells him that regardless of wether she is pregnant or not the fall would not only kill the fetus but would most likely kill her as well.

The chorous compounds their feelings and the causticity inherit throughout.

    hope I didn't bore anyone.
