"Sober and Irrelevant" as written by Bjorn Gelotte, Anders Friden and Jesper Stromblad....
Used to be original,
But now I tremble in fear
I am like everyone else
Alabary spell

Is this how it feels
To reach black bottom
Want to know how it feels to be forgotten

[Chorus]
I become the distance,
I am the sober and irrelevant,
I don't feel but in this,
What is there to believe?

I'm not asking for much
Just a moment
A chance to pick up the pieces
Happiness please come home

What if it ends right here
How do I change it
Hoping to find a savior
I lost my way

[Chorus]

Is this how it feels
To reach black bottom
Want to know how it feels to be forgotten
Hoping to find a savior...
I lost my way

[Chorus]

General CommentIn my experience Anders seems to often write lyrics that purposefully mislead their readers... If this is about his (their) direction as a band it's more likely about the irony of people who supposedly love this band trashing it much more than people who actually hate it

General CommentIDK but this song is great
    In Flames rulez 4ever
    Meaning:
i think it's about opening your mind and seeing that everyone has become sober clones, stop drinking and seeing that now there's nothing to believe in

General CommentOh another meaning could be
In Flames becoming distant to the ones that were creating clayman and older stuff
    Line "i lost my way"
    and "Used to be original,
but now i tremble in fear
    i am like everyone else
    alabary spell

    Is this how it feels
    to reach black bottom
want to know how it feels to be forgotten"
    It fits perfect isn't it

General CommentI'm sick of hearing complaints about how Clayman was the last good album!

I think the song is about noticing how we are all similar and the same, and each of us are irrelevant in a way. We have our time to shine, then become just another person and someone else will fill our place.

    In Flames we trust

General CommentThis is what I hear:

    Used to be original
But now I tremble in fear
    I am like everyone else
    An embarassment

    Is this how it feels
    To reach rock bottom
Want to know how it feels to be forgotten?

    I've become the distant
I am the sober and irrelevant
I don't feel part in this
    What is there to believe?

    I'm not asking for much
    Just a moment
A chance to pick up the pieces
    Happyness, please come home

What if it ends right here
    How do i change it
    Hoping to find a saviour
    I've lost my way

    I've become the distant
I am the sober and irrelevant
I don't feel part in this
    What is there to believe?

    Is this how it feels
    To reach rock bottom
Want to know how it feels to be forgotten
    Hoping to find a saviour

    I've lost my way.

    I've become the distant
I am the sober and irrelevant
I don't feel part in this
    What is there to believe?

General CommentThis is my least favourite song off the new album - to me it sounds like a bitchy moan to the people who dissed them for changing their sound. The music is fine but the lyrics annoy me. Whether this is meant to be ironic or not, it just doesn't work.

On the upside ASOP is probably their best since Clayman (I still love the 3 in between unlike some)

General CommentI doubt this is about them changing their sound.

I think this is about people who have original ideas and want to express them, but because the current society has such ideals, these people won't express their original ideas, but instead go with the mass and be like everyone else. And they know deep inside that they are pathetic like all others and that they reached rock bottom. They are also hoping for something (a 'saviour') to make it possible for them to express those ideas they have.

    Just my thoughts.
