"The Hunger" as written by and Ben/richardson Glover....
Cut it out, cut it out
I know it's what you're wanting to say
Burning up, burning up
I know why you're feeling this way

There's an ache you can't erase
A yearning that you can't replace

And you want Him, and you need Him
But you act like he's not there
Yeah, you know that you're hollow
And something's missing here
So you push and you pull the hole in your soul
But you can't make the hunger disappear

You got a rusted out lock on your door
Getting ready to break
You've held back love long enough
I think it's time to cave

you're waiting for a sign
The fact is faith is blind

And you want Him, and you need Him
But you act like he's not there
Yeah, you know that you're hollow
And something's missing here
So you push and you pull the hole in your soul
But you can't make the hunger disappear

Do you wanna spend your whole life jaded'
Stuck in a rut that you created
Why don't you break the cycle'
Let love win

'Cause you want Him, and you need Him
But you act like he's not there
Yeah, you know that you're hollow
And something's missing here

And you want Him, and you need Him
But you act like he's not there
Yeah, you know that you're hollow
And something's missing here
So you push and you pull the hole in your soul
But you can't make the hunger disappear

General CommentThis is probably my fave song off the album.
And you want Him, and you need Him
But you act like He’s not there
Yeah, you know that you’re hollow
    And something’s missing here
So you push and you pull the hole in your soul
But you can’t make the hunger disappear
To me it means that someone is in love with someone and they want to deny it because of fears of rejection or commitment but they have a "hunger" (desire) for them no matter how many times they try to deny it.

General Commenti think that this song is about someone who knows that they need God and they are denying it, and frankly, running away from it. without God in our lives, we are hollow inside. We search for things to fill that hole, but nothing ever will, only God can. also, it is saying that by pushing God out, you are causing yourself to stay in a rut that you can get out of if only you let him in. i also think that when it says you've held back love long enough or let love in, that love is implying God, because God is love.

MemoryThis song reminds me of me so much. Like when I try to turn away from God, it just...never works. I always feel like I'm missing something. It's because I knew how complete I was with God and something temporary shouldn't cause anyone to completely turn away.

I think it's the same with most christians. When they turn away things just...aren't the same. Because you feel kind of guilty for leaving a God that did so much.
