"Summer Again" as written by and Nate/wiggers Campany....
I'm watching the green give into gold
As summer becomes October's cold
Gravity begs
For one final kiss
She drops it to him, as she gives in

Traces of light, linger around
As laces of white fall to the ground
The softest of sounds for the heaviest things
And the pain that it brings

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to become another again
I remember when

Don't remember the day, she's started to fade
The ground felt a chill as she gave it away
A whisper - a sigh, for the time that she passed
But this winter won't last

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to become another again
I remember when
Oh to be with summer again

The days were warm and we wore them like skin
Now I feel the effects of October again

As she falls I try to catch her
For one last touch of warmth from summer
As one thing leaves to become another again
I remember when
Oh to be with summer again
I'm watching the green give into gold
As summer becomes October's cold

Song MeaningWhat I read into this song is the following:

It is a lament of a guy who is watching a girl give into a relationship with another man which includes a sexual component. The song writer uses an extended metaphor in which he relates her to the seasons.

The green giving into gold, summer into October, leaves falling and "kissing" the ground are all part of the extended metaphor comparing the estrangement in their relationship and her temptation to the physical relationship to the physical seasons.

He is lamenting her change and estrangement so much, it feels like she becomes another person as she gives into this physical relationship. He longs to be with "summer" again, meaning she becomes another person who is colder, or colder towards him.

This extended metaphor could have come about because they are childhood friends and she (or both) go off to college in the autumn and it's like she becomes a different person. But in the summer she is back to the person he knows.

For me, and knowing this song is written by a christian group, I can see our relationship with Christ pictured in the song and our spiritual infidelity with him as we draw farther away and get entangled by the things of the world. He is longing for us to come back to him and escape those things which ultimately do not fill us or meet our hearts true needs (the cold winter).

Throughout the song there is a confidence in the return of summer ("this winter won't last"), the return of faithfulness, and I can only suspect that this is Christian confidence in the restorative power of Jesus, not just a seasonal cycle.

General CommentI think this song is about change. The specific example from the song is obviously the seasons. The singer is mourning the fact that the summer is over and fall is taking its place. But I think the meaning can be applied to various other instances.
In fact, I'm writing a research paper about September 11th, and after doing some research I listened to this song and it totally applied to 9/11. This song is just so good, and the melody is outstanding.

General CommentIt was written about three separate changes. One is the simple changing of the season. The other is the lost of one's purity and the last is the loss of a loved one.

General CommentThis song reminds me of this past summer. I fell for someone and they fell for me and we were wonderful together for a while.
"Don't remember the day, she's started to fade
The ground felt a chill as she gave it away
A whisper - a sigh, for the time that she passed"
I don't remember they day they began to fade away. I don't want winter to roll around, I want to relive all of June and be with them again. I don't want winter..

General CommentI feel that this song is talking about the death of the girl he loves. And how her personality was very warm and welcoming like summer but now that she's gone the world feels cold and wintery. And he tried his best to save her, but he couldn't.
So this song is about what he's feeling. But he's telling himself that he will feel good again. Because everything happens for a reason. But he will never forget her.

Song MeaningI think this song is talking about the loss of purity when it says "Traces of light, linger around
As laces of white fall to the ground
The softest of sounds for the heaviest things
And the pain that it brings"

It talks about how things change when that comes into play in a relationship and how she changed because of it.

General Commenti think it's a little bit more like she got depressed and "started to fade". then "the time that she passed" could almost mean suicide. **shrugs** i really don't know.

General Commenti don't think the girl actually died. I think this song has to do with their relationship. For some reason the girl leaves him and leaves him sad. I think it was a breakup neither wanted, but for some reason better for her. Or maybe after summer they must return to normal lives; it couldve been a vacation spot they met at.
He tries to get her back or make things work, but he cant.

She doesnt actually fade, but her actual being with him does and her memory becomes less vivid. He's sad about it but hes letting her memory go, thinking he will see her again next summer. But when that time comes he doesnt get her back.
That's what I think its about anyways.

But i think also as redpeach said it can apply to other situations. There might not actually be a "she" but she can be referring to something else.

Song MeaningAlthough the meanings of most songs can be interpreted as “boy loves girl”, “boy misses girl”, etc., the beauty of this song lies in its simplicity. The song itself personifies the season of summer as a female. The artist attempts to show the pain and longing that is felt when summer fades away.

The song begins by describing how the changing/falling leaves signal the end of summer. “Watching the green give into gold” (color change), “Gravity begs for one final kiss” (falling leaves).

Then, as the cold comes so do traces of snow, “As laces of white fall to the ground.” That small action of falling snow sends a clear and painful message that she (summer) is gone, “The softest of sounds for the heaviest things, and the pain that it brings.”

“As one thing leaves to become another again,” once again, the season of summer has faded and will turn into autumn; this is most clear in the month of October.

There is no need to interpret the rest of the song, since its simplicity allows us to easily enjoy it.
