Backstage with the modern dancers
She was stretching her arm, configuring her body
While they were breathing, they were shouting
She was concentrating on her breathing
And didn't seem to mind as I sat there on the couch
And tuned my guitar and played a few chords
Like roses growing their thorns, getting ready to perform
With bare feet and painted faces, they took their places
And shivering legs beneath colorful gowns

And out there on the wooden floors, the sweat from their pores
I'm writing a list of songs I can sing by myself
Backstage with the modern dancers
Who feel it like I do, like I feel it, like I feel it feel it feel it
Backstage with the modern dancers getting ready to go on
She showed me her spin with a beauty from within
And all of these things I don't think they should be released

General CommentI can't believe nobody has commented on this song yet...absolutely beautiful!

I think its pretty self-explanatory, he is back stage (perhaps waiting to go on) observing a dancer amongst a group of dancers, and is taken back by her beauty. He also describes the shared feeling of what it feels like to perform in front of an audience. However, At the end he feels that perhaps the dancer's beauty is so profound it shouldn't be released, maybe so he can have the satisfaction of being the only one who has seen it.

General CommentMy favorite song in the whole world.

I think it's about the beauty of the moment, the difficulties with performance, and about having a feeling that you can't explain.

Also amazing live with Tony Dekker, his guitar and nothing else.

General CommentI could seriously be over-thinking this, but here goes.

I think this is about how 2 people can be absorbed in completely different things (she's a dancer, he's a musician) and how easy it is to forget the beauty in other people and their interests. Then, the other person shows you what's important to them and it opens up a whole new world.
