"Love Save the Empty" as written by Jamie S. Kenney and Erin Mccarley....
Little girls don't know how to be sweet girls.
Mama didn't teach me.
Little boys don't know how to treat little girls.
Daddy didn't show me.

Face down, on top of your bed.
Oh why did I give it up to you?
Is this how I shoot myself up high,
Just high enough to get through?

Again, the false affection.
Again, we break down inside.
Love save the empty.
Love save the empty, and save me.

Sad boy, you stare up at the sky
When no one's looking back at you.
You wear your every last disguise;
You're flying, then you fall through.

Again, the false attention.
Again, you're breaking inside.
Love save the empty.
Love save the empty, save me.
Love save the empty.
Love save the empty.

Scars feel like knives,
They tell us why we're fighting.
Storm, wait outside.
Oh, love, hold us together.

Love, save the empty.
Love, save the empty.
Love, save the empty.
Love, save the empty, and save me.
And save me.

General CommentThis was the first song I heard by Erin McCarley. It came on Grey's Anatomy. I instantly fell in love with her.

This song is upbeat but the lyrics aren't really. It's like a plea for a healthy love. Finding love in all the wrong places and wondering if there's something better out there. Mostly stemming from any kind of negelect or being ingnored.

    Love, save thee empty.

The line is pretty straight forward. She's asking love to save the emptiness she feels, to give her a purpose in life.

General Commenti think the words of this song are so beautifully written. although i feel more alienated than ever before living and studying in a foreign country here in the US, i'm glad that i'm not the only one who feels empty (as Erin so aptly puts it). again, the false affection; again, we break down inside - so amazingly real that it really hits a raw spot.
this is definitely one for guys who choke on their words before their crushes and bury their faces in pillows.
    Go, Erin! You're amazing!

General CommentI love this song! I think it is saying, that she wants to fill that empty void in her. She craves for something real and not little games that most boys love to play. And saying that the guys are manipulating her.

General CommentThis is such an amazing song... I agree with the above opinions; it's about the viewpoint that love will complete you and fill your emptiness.

General CommentLove is the only thing that will make her feel complete. She looks for love by hooking up with men (Face down on top of your bed) but knows that this is not love, just "false affection." But it's more than no affection at all, and although it hurts to realize that, it hurts less than having nothing. The uncertianty of when she will actually find real love kills her, but she'll keep looking until it's there.

    Hits so close to home...

General CommentFace down, on top of your bed.
Oh why did I give it up to you?

    Again, the false affection.
Again, we break down inside. - i think these parts are just saying basically that she doesn't love whoever she's with even though she's sexually with him she's not enjoying being with him through other things.

Little girls don't know how to be sweet girls.
    Mama didn't teach me.
Little boys don't know how to treat little girls.
Daddy didn't show me.- maybe this says she doesn't know how to love cause she didn't have a good enough example growing up

Sad boy, you stare up at the sky
When no one's looking back at you.
    You wear your every last disguise;
You're flying, then you fall through.- this says that the guy in the relationship can see it's not working but doesn't show it. then you can see maybe he's trying to make it work by being someone he's not for her and he thinks it's working and then realizes it's not at all

but that's just some things i'm seeing. correct me if i'm wrong, that's just my opinion on these lines

My InterpretationLittle girls don't know how to be sweet girls.
Mama didn't teach me-- Basically that her mother didn't teach
her that 'giving it up to whoever' wasn't a bad thing.
So when she says 'sweet,' she might mean an innocent virgin image.

Little boys don't know how to treat little girls.
Daddy didn't show me-- Possibly that (some) males aren't looking out for the girls best interest
as long as the female gives them what they want they don't care-'...don't know how
    to treat little girls'

Face down, on top of your bed.
Oh why did I give it up to you?-- She really only has a sexual relationship with
this male, she doesn't love him. She doesn't really understand what or why she's doing
    whatever she's doing.

Is this how I shoot myself up high,-- 'High' as in make herself feel like she has a good, healthy relationship

Just high enough to get through?-- 'Just enough' as to where it's enough that she doesn't feel in denial about the relationship she is in

    Again, the false affection.
Again, we break down inside.-- They both know they don't really love eachother and that can possibly hurt
(I mean who doesnt want their 'soulmate,' someone who genuinely loves them back)
Possibly they've been with eachother for awhile and something is holding them back from
leaving one another, but their sexual intimacy is as good as it gets.

    Love save the empty.
Love save the empty, and save me.-- Self explanatory, wouldn't you agree?

Sad boy, you stare up at the sky
When no one's looking back at you.-- He doesn't want anyone to know what he really feels,
'When no one's looking back at you,'

    You wear your every last disguise;
You're flying, then you fall through.-- He's pretending, but he doesn't want to and he finally breaks down inside.

    Stars feel like knives,
They tell us why we're fighting.-- I am not exactly sure...?

Storm, wait outside.-- Storm is a metaphor for 'fight'

Oh, love, hold us together.-- She wants it to be love, but it isn'y and she knows that

    (By the way,
I am only thirteen so I apologize if this 'nonsense' happens to not be even close to exact)

General CommentIts about how some people don't know HOW to love anymore so we look for love in "false affection" to feel the emptiness inside, but because the empty feelings return we end up breaking ourselves down. So shes calling for love to save and fill the emptiness inside us.
