This song is very clearly about some one who perviously had a lot of emotional problems, such as sadness or depression, and how getting into a relationship with a kind, caring person helped alleviate him of them.

Beckoned silent by a shift in light, I felt a change

A shift in light denoted a change of emotional scenery in his life. He went from being sad all the time to having something that makes him happy all the time.

Everything I thought I knew was simply lifted from my veins

The presence of this person makes all his sadness disappear, sadness he previously thought he would never escape.

There was surrender, there were no tears But my broken face would shed a thousand years

He let go of his sadness. This new person made him so happy he didn't even have the tears to cry about it anymore.

This is the sound that my heart made Beating faster and faster and forcing me to lift my head This is the sound of perfection

The "sound" mentioned in the chorus I believe to be refering to the actual song itself. He is "forced" to lift his head because this person cheers him up to the point where everything is perfect.

This is some one he can confide in, some one that will make him feel better about his problems. The line about "over-exposure" perhaps means that he had previously tried this with other people, but wasn't able to open up to them. Or maybe that he was hurt by another person in the past, and has since then been cautious about letting his guard down and opening up about his feelings. This is all different however, with this new person.

And your words encircle my head like a halo

This person's kind words, advice, and empathy helped him to ascend from the depths of depression, and subsequently turned him into a better person.

This stanza is what makes me speculate what the song's name actually means. It quite obviously just talks about how they are very happy with eachother. But what doorway? What impact? It could very well be that the two plan to run away together or something like that, but I speculate that this song is specifically about a highschool student with depression, going through a rough time, struggling with emotional truama such as bullying or whatever it may be. This could possibly make the title of the song a bit more clear, perhaps the lyricist's highschool colors were Silver and Black. I can't really think of any other way the song's title could be related to the lyrics than that.
