"Such As It Ends" as written by and Matthew Palermo Marshall Fanciullo....
I've been losing sleep for days
You've been searching through the deserts and the caves
Your postcards hit me in waves
Sadly stinging me with songs from yesterday

Love such as it ends
Breaking the hearts that wouldn't bend
Closes the doors you used to listen through
Love such as it ends
Into the flames we'll start again
And in the end I'll be with you

You've been burning up for days
Trying to gather all the figures in the clay
You know they can't all be saved
Leave the weak ones
Find a modicum of shade.

Love such as it ends
Breaking the hearts that wouldn't bend
Closes the doors you used to listen through
Love such as it ends
Into the flames we'll start again
And in the end I'll be with you

I've been vacant for so long
But you were there
You look so tired
Now just please love let me take it on my shoulders
And we might make it home

Love such as it ends
Breaking the hearts that wouldn't bend

Love such as it ends
Breaking the hearts that wouldn't bend
Closes the doors you used to listen through
Love such as it ends
Into the flames we'll start again
And in the end I'll be with you

General CommentI am currently convinced that this song was inspired by Indiana Jones. It's from Marion Ravenwood's point of view and is takes place before and during Raiders of the lost Ark. That means that the narrator is a female and the subject is male. Now, pay attention...

Verse one talks about how he left her to go searching through deserts and caves. This is when Indy left Marion to go search for important artifacts and she pined for him -- they were in love when he left.

The second verse talks about him gathering "figures in the clay" which can refer to buried artifacts or clay artifacts. It says that he can't "save them all" -- as in "that belongs in a museum!!!"

The last one is when Indy returns to Marion (Raiders). He "looks so tired" b/c it's referring to the part where they are escaping on the boat -- you know, the "where doesn't it hurt?" scene.

It may be a bit crazy, but it makes sense when you think about it!!!

General CommentI’ve been losing sleep for days

(I think its about a war, eg iraq. His lover is in war, searching in caves for evil people.)

You’ve been burning up for days
Trying to gather all the figures in the clay
You know they can’t all be saved
    Leave the weak ones
    Find a modicum of shade.

(The evil people change shapes all the time, one mintue it some next its someone else. She wants to save them all, but she cant)

He just dosnt want her hurt, hed rather take the pain than her. Even if she dies, they will meet as he will too

General CommentI think this has to do with someone in a troubled relationship who hadn't been showing how much their relationship meant to them. Whereas he other person was trying desperately to keep things together. The one who hadn't been "trying" suddenly realized that they'd need to begin helping to keep them together.

    "You look so tired
Now just please love let me take it on my shoulders
And we might make it home"

Telling the other person that they are thankful for what they've done but, now it was their turn to make things better. And because now they were trying, they would both stay together.

Reminds me of my boyfriend and I.

Song Meaning bridgers22, I was just listening to this song & I came to the same conclusion as you. I'm sure it's probably not about Indy, but I'd like to think so anyway. :P

Although, we're talking about a band with songs about the Wonder Years, so who knows? It could be about Indy. :P

Song MeaningYeah, I think it's about a couple that's been having problems. One person was trying to make it work (the girl) and the other wasn't (the singer) but now he is. He's saying that they'll make it through now that they both want to make it work.
    Loooove this song.
