"In Space" as written by and Andrew Volpe Marshall Fanciullo....
The moon is old
All dusty craters
Fear and panic
Orbit mars
Saturn's dark side rings
Are just plain beautiful

Back on earth
You're waking up soon
Stretching in
The morning light
No celestial body
Could compare to you

And even though
I'd always dreamed of
Going to the stars
In space
What I think about is
You and me
And atmosphere
This place
Is terrible and endless
Counting moon rocks
For the cause
Just me in a little pod
I can't wait for gravity
To bring you close to me

All I've got's
This little window
Never lets me
See too much
I bet the leaves are changing
There again
The solar winds
To zero kelvin
I'm hurdling
And pressurized
If only I could
Get a breath of you

And even though
I'd always dreamed of
Going to the stars
In space
What I think about is
You and me
And atmosphere
This place
Is terrible and endless
Counting moon rocks
For the cause
Just me in a little pod
I can't wait for gravity
To bring you close to me

I hope this message finds you
And you won't feel so alone
Even if I never make it
Home

In space
All I think about is
You and me
And atmosphere
In space
You're picture's
All I look at
My place
Is written below
Watch the leaves change
In the yard
Dreaming of the stars
I can't wait for gravity
To bring me home

General CommentI'm pretty sure some of these lyrics are wrong... like in the last chorus, I think its "my place is WITH YOU below" Also, does anyone know what the background lyrics are in this last stanza?

General Commentthis song is pretty self explanatory...it's about an astronaut who wants to be home with his wife/girlfriend/loved one.

General CommentI don't think it's as simple as an astronaut being in space missing his girl.
I think that's just kind of a metaphor for him being far away in a really beautiful place, but he still just wants to be with her and misses her.
No matter what kind of beauty he is surrounded by, he can't appreciate it because he's always thinking of her.

Song MeaningTo be honest, I didn't really like this song the first couple times I heard it. It seemed too simple, and I thought it was the worst on the album.

But now, I think it might go deeper than that. I think he's using space as a metaphor for heaven, which makes sense because most people think of heaven as above us somewhere.

"I hope this message finds you
And you won't feel so alone
Even if I never make it home"

I think he may be dead, and he's talking to his girlfriend.

"And even though I'd always dreamed of going to the stars"
He's saying that even though he always wanted to go to heaven,

"In space what I think about is you and me"
he didn't want it to be this soon, and even though it is heaven, it doesn't compare to life with her.

I don't know. Maybe I'm taking it a little too far.

General CommentJust putting this out there, but I think this song is about missing his girlfriend while he's on tour, but also making the song a bit whimsical by making it be about space. Just sayin'.
