Car door's frozen
I can't get to you
Your window's open
The cold air's pouring through
Your bones are broken
The belt won't let you loose
And i'm left hoping
That you might wake up soon

I just stand and watch as they pull you from another world
Unraveling twisted plots, oh i wish you were another girl

And i'll set the world on fire
Cause i could not satisfy her

Empty hallways
You can't get to me
Open doorways
But you're still searching for your keys
And i can't open
The ears for which i sing
So i'll just pass along
And baby you'll start to hear me

You just sit and stare as if i'm from another land
In your comfortable chair, oh i wish i were another man

And i'll set the world on fire
Cause i could not satisfy her

Satisfaction seems to be
The key that turns, the air we breathe
It brings us now so confidently crawling on our knees
So you try to satisfy the hours
But you're ignorance won't fight the fires
And your innocence can't kill desire
So you're not as perfect as you seem to be

I'll set the world on fire
Cause i could not satisfy her
I'll set the world on fire
Cause i could not satisfy her
And i'll take this world by fire
Cause i'll never...
I'll never satisfy
I'll never satisfy

    General CommentWow.
I think the her he is referring to is his mom.
Because when he dropped out of school his mom was really disapointed.
And one of the reasons he tryed out for AI is that he wanted to prove to his mom he could do it. And make her proud.

General Commentthis is my fave song by josiah.
    awesome piano playing.
    nice lyrics.
    it's just a perfect song.

but anyway about the song meaning.
    i'm still kind of confused.
i think it could mean the "her" might be a girl who won't let josiah in her heart. or something along the lines of that.

General Commenti think the car crash at the beginning is an analogy for a girl he cant get.. and then "open doorways, but shes still searching for her keys"
about a girl who he'll never be good enough for and a girl that is never really satisfied with any guy
a tease who he fell in love with

just what im thinking it is :) might be wrong haha just starting

General CommentJosiah said something about a lot of his songs being about one particular girlfriend and his struggle with her and the town he lived in. that's all i know.

General Commenta good friend of mine actually sat next to him during the american idol auditions. they discussed the meaning of this song and josiah explained that the night before he recorded the video of this song, his girlfriend broke up with him. he wrote the song hours before he recorded it, as well as drank himself silly. so he was drunk and heartbroken as he sang.

My InterpretationHe's talking about a girl who he fell in love with who he finally realized he was never going to be good enough for. "empty hallways, and you can't get to me. open doorways but your still searching for your key. and i can't open the ears for which i sing, so i'll just pass along and maybe you'll start to hear me"...i think means things that were so easy and obvious, she never saw and were too busy searching for something that would help...when all she needed to do was listen to him. he felt alone and like he tryed so hard to hold on when she gave up and was unsatisfied after he put so much effort forth. "so you try to satisfy the hours" as in you make the best of what's going on now, but all together, what do you really feel about it? "Satisfaction seems to be the key that turns the air we breathe. It brings us now so confidently crawling on our knees" as is all she cared about was what she could get from him. and look what satisfaction can do to brings them on their knees, down to such a low level. that's my interpretation.
