"You Can Tell Georgia" as written by and Joe Purdy....
You can tell Georgia that you were wrapped up in my arms last night
And I was holding you like you were mine
You can tell Georgia anytime

And you can tell Georgia that my thinking is clear
And I've been thinking that I need you near
You can tell Georgia I was here
Oh you can tell Georgia I was here

Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up dear
I said no

You can tell Georgia if I see him around
Honey I'm gonna knock him down
Oh everyone be down
Oh if you see him again
Oh you can tell Georgia where I am
Oh you can tell Georgia where I am

Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up you said to me
Am I waking you up dear
I said no

You can tell Georgia anytime

Song MeaningHe is having an illicit romance with a woman whose husband/boyfriend lives in Georgia. He wants to come clean and takes a stand with the man and declare his romance with the woman, but he really doesn't.

General CommentI would say Georgia is the name of a woman he loved (or loves). Joe mentions her again in the song "Canyon Joe".

And I once loved a woman
    And Georgia was her name
    ...
She still comes to me in dreams
I am still haunted with her ghost
