"Saw a UFO" as written by and Mark O. Everett....
Saw a UFO
In the sky last night
Made me wonder if
Everything's gonna be all right
Searchin' the skyline
For a little light

All the love in the world inside of you
Been there all along to see you through

Saw a UFO
And it made me cry
Could I be so stupid
To think that I'm
Gonna be here
Forever?

All the love in the world inside of you
Been there all along to see you through

All the love in the world inside of you
Been there all along to see you through

Saw a UFO
Then it disappeared
Made me wonder if it's gonna be
Back next year
Maybe I don't have anything
To fear

All the love in the world inside of you
Been there all along to see you through

All the love in the world inside of you
All the love in the world inside of you

General CommentHere's one take on the song:

UFO - unidentified flying object - a vision in the sky of some sort. Maybe an "angel", or maybe referring to an actual UFO, He's not sure WHAT it is, but it's flyng. Past history shows a lot of Eels music with a theme of flying; birds, airplanes and the like. Things closer to the heavens than ourselves, if you will.

"Saw a UFO, and it made me cry, could I be so stupid as to think that I'm gonna be here forever?" A glimpse of his own mortality here, maybe. No one lives forever

And then it disappears, leaving "him" to wonder when it will be back - for him? Maybe death / leaving is nothing to be afraid of.

"All the love in the world inside of you..." I believe he's talking to himself here. This love he has insude will have to be enough until that time of leaving, whenever that comes.

General CommentSays E of this song:

"Something about this one gets to me. I have two people inside of me, always at war. It's nice when the believer beats up the nonbeliever once in a while."
