So sick of seeing things
My mind it just can't believe
It suck wasting away
Why ain't life so bittersweet?
We're so close to the edge
Pretend, makeshift king and queen
Please, please, won't some somebody
Please, please, medicate me

Mister won't you please
Please, please, medicate me
Mister won't you please
Please, please, medicate me

Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it up for things we want but don't need, want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean, say but don't mean
Up and down these streets we crawl

So tired of being afraid
Of what's to the left or right of me
It's just the price that I pay
For things expected or unseen
It seems we're better off dead
Victim, so green, so naive
Please, please, won't some somebody
Please, please, medicate me

Mister won't you please
Please, please, medicate me
Mister won't you please
Please, please, medicate me

Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it up for things we want but don't need, want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean, say but don't mean

Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it up for things we want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean
Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it up for things we want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean, say but don't mean

Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it, back it up for things we want but don't need, want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean, say but don't mean
Up and down these streets we crawl
Back it, back it up for things we want but don't need, want but don't need
The only time we speak at all
We erupt with things we say but don't mean, say but don't mean

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
