Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
You look good but you don't look great
She's got you saying things on tape
You wouldn't tell your best of friends
You think this cycle never ends
Until you are old, it's sad, just how old you are
If you make it out alright
If you make it up for air
I promise you I won't go
(I won't leave before) Before the sun gets to rise
I'll ask this one more time
Will you have me in spite of her?
She has told you what she'd bring
You're entertained by lesser things
You've got to step it up a bit, step it a bit more until
You're sure there's nothing left inside to hurt this pretty mind
'Cause pretty eyes will see right through you
She'll find out
She'll break down
Stop this now
If you make it out alright
If you make it up for air
I promise you I won't go
(I won't leave before) Before the sun gets to rise
I'll ask this one more time
Will you have me in spite of her?
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing tonight
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing tonight
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing tonight
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing
You're barely breathing tonight
If you make it out alright
If you make it up for air
I promise you I won't go
(I won't leave before) Before the sun gets to rise

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
I'm pretty sure this is about him cheating on his girl friend, of some such, and he's afraid she'll find out so he has to "youve got to step it up a bit step it a bit more until youre sure theres nothing left inside to hurt this pretty mind 'cause pretty eyes will see right through you"
And yeah that's pretty much what this song is all about..I think
I think the singer is criticizing someone who is cheating on someone, and being that they are entertained by lesser things (sex, superficial qualities), they need to stop cheating to avoid hurting the person being cheated on. perhaps. Really good sounding song.
To me the song is about a guy who is cheating on his girlfriend and he is speaking to the girl he's cheating with. "if you make it out alright if you make it up for air i promise you i wont go before the sun gets to rise ill ask this one more time will you have me in spite of her?"
He's asking the girl hes cheating with if she will have him inspite that they are both hurting his girlfriend.
"theres nothing left inside to hurt this pretty mind 'cause pretty eyes will see right through you she'll find out she'll break down stop this now" He's telling the girl they have to stop this because he knows that his girlfriend will be badly hurt.
I see this as a girl who has a "friend" who is her confidant that basically she goes to for advice. This girl tells her how to dress, who to hang with, who to date. And now she found someone she would not approve of. Who will wait until she gets the balls to tell her pretty "Friend"/puppet master that she is no longer hers to control.
