when i pull the wings off of the fly
fly never wonders why i did it
when i pull the wings off of the fly
the fly never wonders why i did

you know, they didn't ever have to love me
no, no, no and no one will ever love them now
oh, oh, but they
they always wanted somehow to save me
why, oh, why
for pity's sake, they should have saved themselves

oh, oh, but you
you always said i never missed a note
i only ever wanted to be with you

i only wanted someone to play
play play play
when i pull the wings off of the fly
the fly never wonders why
you know, they never really ever have to love me no, no, no
but no one will ever love them now
they always thought that somehow they could save me
why, oh, why
for pity's sake, they should have saved themselves

oh, oh, but you
you always said i never missed a note
and nobody ever knew me like you do
you do
you always said it's going to be okay
okay
i only ever really wanted to be with you

i only wanted someone to play
play play play
when i pull the wings off of the fly
the fly never wonders why i did it

General CommentI just heard this song at the end of the movie "joshua" and it caught my attention.

This song is about the movie I believe

Joshua had a habit of question whether his parents love him or not
"You know they never really have to love me"

And there's a part in the movie where joshua is playing "twinkle twinkle little star" on piano, and he kept missing notes

"You always said I'd never miss a note"

It believe its about someone with bad intentions and longing for something or someone, but gets around by showing fake emotions, even when people actually try to care for the person..
And knowing that regardless of them trying to help this person.. They know inside they could never change.....

Seems as though this person has no feelings
    Same as in the movie
joshua seemed to have no emotions
    Everything was fake
    And there's no clarity

General CommentI also first heard this song in the movie Joshua. Dave Matthews wrote it for the movie so that makes the song a bit difficult to find, which kind of sucks.

In relation to the movie, I'm guessing that 'the fly' is supposed to be his parents. He doesn't really expect them to love him, and even though he hurts them, they never seem to wonder why, thus "the fly never wonders why I did it"
I guess all he really wanted was to be with his uncle, because it seemed like he was the only one who really cared about joshua while his parents were preoccupied with the baby. He's pretty sick and sadistic though, so I guess he only knew one way to get what he wanted.
Still, you have a pretty good idea but you're never really sure about whether he's evil or not, maybe he really was being abused or something. I mean, it had to come from somewhere, and his parents weren't exactly the best...

General Commentyeah... i think the "never missed a note" line reffers to the Twinkle Twinkle Little Star part (like born_betrayer said ) but i think its cuz everyone thought he couldnt play the piano when he was playing the other notes during the song but his uncle knew what he was doing. His mom said something along the lines of "what the hell is he doing" and her brother (Josh's uncle) Ned replied "i think he is hitting every note". It shows how he is the only one who actually gets Josh. (i kno that more than likely doesn't make sense... but i never do so.... sorry)
