We play a waiting game
And we play a waiting game
We play a waiting game
And it won't be long now

The tailor was the first to go
We burnt his clothes
And we burried him low

The tailor's next of kin
And the tailor's neighbors followed him
And so it is
And so it goes
Save our souls

We play a waiting game
And we play a waiting game
We play a waiting game
And it won't be long now

The fossor refused to dig
And who could blame him if he did
We bury our own now
We bury them deep

When the doctor followed suit
Knew our plight was set to worsen
So it is
The fear of God now is in every person

With heavy hearts
And other hands
We build a wall around this town
Now no one comes and no one goes
Save our souls

We play a waiting game
And we play a waiting game
We play a waiting game
And it won't be long now

When you said the air smelled sweet
I knew it was only a matter of time
And we all fall down
And we all fall down

General CommentEssay about the song provided by the band: iliketrains.co.uk/timeline/ 4th one down.

It's about the plague and how a small town called Eyam in the Peak District helped stop it spread to the north of England by shutting themselves off from the surrounding area and essentially sacrificing themselves.
