You changed me
You chained me down and taught me
The damage I've done
(Damage I've done)
Can show me the way to my heart?

Sing, sing out my love
'Cause I've been here before
And silence don't get you a thing
(No, it don't get you a thing)
I learned this on the way to my heart

It was with you Rivington deep
September we took the long way
And your hand led me home like Orion
You woke my heart with your northern lights
With your song

Yes you, you slay me origami dog
I wonder if you'll do it again
(Please do it again)
I'll thank you from the deep of my heart
I'll thank you for the start of my heart

I love this song.. I could listen to it for ages. I thought she says 'I've been here before..' anyway this song is such a beautiful one. It has special meaning to me. Someone touched my life, in a very short space of time,I take start of my heart to mean start of love, feelings and how one person can change you so much. She wants that person to do it again.

this one is about jeff buckley.

the references to Rivington street(close to where he lived and gigged in NYC) and Northern Lights(how jeff's neighbor, Robert Gordon described his voice).

joan talked about how her relationship with jeff opened her up"started her heart" and how she felt ripped open by his sudden death.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
