"I wish the best for you" as written by and Matthew Bronleewe Emerson Hart....
How long can we wait
To say goodbye?
The words once they're spoken
Our words that we can't take

Back to where we were before
Things got in the way
Life gets so confusing
When you know what you're losing

You, me, why can't we see
That there's more to love
Than we'll ever know?
Sometimes you're closer
When you're letting go

I wish the best for you
I wish the best for you

We'll both regret the hurting
That we will do
You'll learn to forget me
And I?ll try, I?ll try to forget

You, me, why can't we see
That there's more to love
Than we'll ever know?
Sometimes you're closer
When you're letting go

I wish the best for you
I wish the best

If you ever need a place
That you can run to
I?ll be here, I?ll be here

You, me, why can't we see
That there's more to love
Than we'll ever know?
Sometimes you're closer
When you're letting go

I wish the best for you
I wish the best for you

General CommentJust found out that this song is performed by the former lead singer of Tonic, a favorite band of mine back in the 90's. I think this song is about two people, nearing the end of their relationship, knowing that once they say goodbye things can never return to how they used to be. Sometimes, the further apart they are, the closer they are to the heart because of missing them. Love just works in mysterious ways... In time, they'll both move on and try to forget the past, wishing each other nothing but the best in the future.

Song MeaningEmerson Hart has said that he wrote this song about a couple who were very good friends of his. They came to the realization that they should divorce, and they were trying very hard to keep their split civil and respectful. Emerson wrote this song about the heartbreak they were going through as they went their separate ways.
