Please don't go
Don't treat me like the others
I won't go
I won't give up on the future
I planned with you
We would have everything
Please don't go
This is different and you know

You were the first
To say all the words
You fell for more than my looks
You know it's real
You know what you feel
Listen here

I love you
I need you
I won't lose you
I love you

I know it's hard
To believe sometimes
And it's scary to think
That after all this time
Someone could be
The answer you seek
Yes it's true
I do care for you

"Cuz you were the first
To say all the words
You fell for more than my looks
And I won't refrain
I'm not the same
As those who've caused you pain

I love you
I need you
I won't lose you
I love you

I would give my life for you
If only you would ask me to
And I would sacrifice my heart
If it meant I could save you
'Cuz I love you for
Everything you are
Every broken part
Every hole in your heart

And I love you
I need you
I won't lose you
I love you

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
