There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black hat caught in a high tree top
There's a flag pole rag and the wind won't stop

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I always thought that you could end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall
There's a dead salmon frozen in a water fall
There's a blue whale beached by a springtime's ebb
There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web

There's a king on his throne with his eyes torn out
There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread

There's a red fox torn by a huntman's pack
There's a black winged gull with a broken back
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
That's my soul up there

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I always thought that you could end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

I'll always be the king of pain

General CommentChad Grey? Better than Sting? Who knew? I did. This song is awesome, I've listened to it 47 times since the CD came out.

As for the meaning, refer to the police version. they have some interesting views over there

General CommentAn amazing cover song. Reminds me of Shout2000 by Disturbed in that it takes a well established 'cult' hit song and keeps the best parts while adding the metal edge to push it over the top.

General CommentThis is the best cover I've ever heard. Too bad Mudvayne only has old covers on their new album; all their new songs are awesome!

Looks like the poster of these lyrics only copied and pasted from the Police version, because they're the SAME exact lyrics, and if you listen closely you can hear that Chad changes some of the words.

Oh yeah, did I mention that this is my favorite Mudvayne song? :D :D :D
