Song MeaningI'm surprised at the variety of interpretations for three-way.

I thought first of a sexual encounter, but this doesn't seem to fit. I'm sure the band was aware of this alternate meaning when they chose the title, though.

Note that we hear the same piece three times but with variations. I have a hunch that "three-way" is a hint about the musical progression, similar to Dave Brubek's famous "Take Five" song, where the title refers to the 5-beat timing.

General CommentI believe this song is about three-point turns, AKA "Y-turns".

General CommentThe meaning of this song? I can't seem to grasp what they're talking about... hmm.. three-way?

Honestly, though. This song has become a joke with me and my friends (even the ones who don't listen to the Magnetic Fields have at least heard this song)

General CommentGiven the album is called "distortion," I thought maybe they mean the audio is being distorted three different ways. The sexual meaning to me is intended to show the fun nature of playing around with the audio. I picture all of their equipment personified and having a three-way.
